  • Psalms 62:1 - For God alone my soul waits in silence; From Him comes my salvation.
  • Hebrews 2:1 - For this reason [that is, because of God’s final revelation in His Son Jesus and because of Jesus’ superiority to the angels] we must pay much closer attention than ever to the things that we have heard, so that we do not [in any way] drift away from truth.

  • James 3:6 - And the tongue is [in a sense] a fire, the very world of injustice and unrighteousness; the tongue is set among our members as that which contaminates the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life [the cycle of man’s existence], and is itself set on fire by hell (Gehenna).
  • James 3:7 - For every species of beasts and birds, of reptiles and sea creatures, is tamed and has been tamed by the human race.
  • James 3:8 - But no one can tame the human tongue; it is a restless evil [undisciplined, unstable], full of deadly poison.
  • 1 Kings 2:4 - so that the Lord may fulfill His promise concerning me, saying, ‘If your sons are careful regarding their way [of life], to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and mind and with all their soul, you shall not fail to have a man (descendant) on the throne of Israel.’
  • Psalms 141:3 - Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips [to keep me from speaking thoughtlessly].
  • James 1:26 - If anyone thinks himself to be religious [scrupulously observant of the rituals of his faith], and does not control his tongue but deludes his own heart, this person’s religion is worthless (futile, barren).
  • Proverbs 21:23 - He who guards his mouth and his tongue Guards himself from troubles.
  • Psalms 119:9 - How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping watch [on himself] according to Your word [conforming his life to Your precepts].
