  • Matthew 25:40 - “The King will reply, ‘What I’m about to tell you is true. Anything you did for one of the least important of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
  • Matthew 6:9 - “This is how you should pray. “ ‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored.
  • Matthew 10:41 - Suppose someone welcomes a prophet as a prophet. They will receive a prophet’s reward. And suppose someone welcomes a godly person as a godly person. They will receive a godly person’s reward.
  • Matthew 10:42 - Suppose someone gives even a cup of cold water to a little one who follows me. What I’m about to tell you is true. That person will certainly be rewarded.”

  • 2 Corinthians 9:9 - It is written, “They have spread their gifts around to poor people. Their good works continue forever.” ( Psalm 112:9 )
  • 2 Corinthians 9:10 - God supplies seed for the person who plants. He supplies bread for food. God will also supply and increase the amount of your seed. He will increase the results of your good works.
  • Matthew 5:46 - If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Even the tax collectors do that.
  • Matthew 5:48 - So be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
  • Luke 12:1 - During that time a crowd of many thousands had gathered. There were so many people that they were stepping on one another. Jesus spoke first to his disciples. “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees,” he said. “They just pretend to be godly.
  • Luke 12:15 - Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against wanting to have more and more things. Life is not made up of how much a person has.”
  • John 5:44 - You accept praise from one another. But you do not seek the praise that comes from the only God. So how can you believe?
  • Matthew 6:16 - “When you go without eating, do not look gloomy like those who only pretend to be holy. They make their faces look very sad. They want to show people they are fasting. What I’m about to tell you is true. They have received their complete reward.
  • Matthew 16:6 - “Be careful,” Jesus said to them. “Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
  • Mark 8:15 - “Be careful,” Jesus warned them. “Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees. And watch out for the yeast of Herod.”
  • Luke 16:15 - Jesus said to them, “You try to make yourselves look good in the eyes of other people. But God knows your hearts. What people think is worth a lot is hated by God.
  • Ezekiel 33:31 - My people come to you, just as they usually do. They sit in front of you. They hear what you say. But they do not put it into practice. With their mouths they say they love me. But in their hearts they want what belongs to others. They try to get rich by cheating them.
  • Matthew 6:4 - Then your giving will be done secretly. Your Father will reward you, because he sees what you do secretly.
  • Matthew 6:5 - “When you pray, do not be like those who only pretend to be holy. They love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners. They want to be seen by other people. What I’m about to tell you is true. They have received their complete reward.
  • Matthew 6:6 - When you pray, go into your room. Close the door and pray to your Father, who can’t be seen. Your Father will reward you, because he sees what you do secretly.
  • Matthew 23:28 - It is the same with you. On the outside you seem to be doing what is right. But on the inside you are full of what is wrong. You pretend to be what you are not.
  • Matthew 23:29 - “How terrible for you, teachers of the law and Pharisees! You pretenders! You build tombs for the prophets. You decorate the graves of the godly.
  • Matthew 23:30 - And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of those who lived before us, we wouldn’t have done what they did. We wouldn’t have helped to kill the prophets.’
  • Galatians 6:12 - Some people are worried about how things look on the outside. They are trying to force you to be circumcised. They do it for only one reason. They don’t want to suffer by being connected with the cross of Christ.
  • John 12:43 - They loved praise from people more than praise from God.
  • Hebrews 6:10 - God is fair. He will not forget what you have done. He will remember the love you have shown him. You showed it when you helped his people. And you show it when you keep on helping them.
  • Matthew 23:5 - “Everything they do is done for others to see. On their foreheads and arms they wear little boxes that hold Scripture verses. They make the boxes very wide. And they make the tassels on their coats very long.
