John 18:11 - But Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword back into its sheath. Shall I not drink from the cup of suffering the Father has given me?”
Psalms 22:1 - My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? Why are you so far away when I groan for help?
Psalms 22:2 - Every day I call to you, my God, but you do not answer. Every night I lift my voice, but I find no relief.
Hebrews 5:7 - While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could rescue him from death. And God heard his prayers because of his deep reverence for God.
Psalms 69:13 - But I keep praying to you, Lord, hoping this time you will show me favor. In your unfailing love, O God, answer my prayer with your sure salvation.
Psalms 69:14 - Rescue me from the mud; don’t let me sink any deeper! Save me from those who hate me, and pull me from these deep waters.
Psalms 69:15 - Don’t let the floods overwhelm me, or the deep waters swallow me, or the pit of death devour me.
Luke 22:39 - Then, accompanied by the disciples, Jesus left the upstairs room and went as usual to the Mount of Olives.
Luke 22:40 - There he told them, “Pray that you will not give in to temptation.”
Luke 22:41 - He walked away, about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed,
Luke 22:42 - “Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”
Luke 22:43 - Then an angel from heaven appeared and strengthened him.
Luke 22:44 - He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood.
Luke 22:45 - At last he stood up again and returned to the disciples, only to find them asleep, exhausted from grief.
Luke 22:46 - “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation.”
Matthew 26:42 - Then Jesus left them a second time and prayed, “My Father! If this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will be done.”
Matthew 26:39 - He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”
