  • John 18:3 - So Judas obtained a squad of soldiers and some officers of the chief priests and Pharisees. They came to the orchard with lanterns and torches and weapons.
  • John 18:4 - Then Jesus, because he knew everything that was going to happen to him, came and asked them, “Who are you looking for?”
  • John 18:5 - They replied, “Jesus the Nazarene.” He told them, “I am he.” (Now Judas, the one who betrayed him, was standing there with them.)
  • John 18:6 - So when Jesus said to them, “I am he,” they retreated and fell to the ground.
  • John 18:7 - Then Jesus asked them again, “Who are you looking for?” And they said, “Jesus the Nazarene.”
  • John 18:8 - Jesus replied, “I told you that I am he. If you are looking for me, let these men go.”
  • John 18:9 - He said this to fulfill the word he had spoken, “I have not lost a single one of those whom you gave me.”
  • John 18:10 - Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, pulled it out and struck the high priest’s slave, cutting off his right ear. (Now the slave’s name was Malchus.)
  • John 18:11 - But Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword back into its sheath! Am I not to drink the cup that the Father has given me?”
  • Psalms 22:1 - My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? I groan in prayer, but help seems far away.

  • Luke 22:39 - Then Jesus went out and made his way, as he customarily did, to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him.
  • Luke 22:40 - When he came to the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”
  • Luke 22:41 - He went away from them about a stone’s throw, knelt down, and prayed,
  • Luke 22:42 - “Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me. Yet not my will but yours be done.” [
  • Luke 22:43 - Then an angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.
  • Luke 22:44 - And in his anguish he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.]
  • Luke 22:45 - When he got up from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping, exhausted from grief.
  • Luke 22:46 - So he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you will not fall into temptation!”
  • Matthew 26:42 - He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will must be done.”
  • Matthew 26:39 - Going a little farther, he threw himself down with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if possible, let this cup pass from me! Yet not what I will, but what you will.”
