Lamentations 1:9 - Her filthiness clung to her skirts; she did not consider her future. Her fall was astounding; there was none to comfort her. “Look, Lord, on my affliction, for the enemy has triumphed.”
Jeremiah 9:1 - Oh, that my head were a spring of water and my eyes a fountain of tears! I would weep day and night for the slain of my people.
Luke 19:41 - As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it
Luke 19:42 - and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes.
Luke 19:43 - The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side.
Luke 19:44 - They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”
Lamentations 4:2 - How the precious children of Zion, once worth their weight in gold, are now considered as pots of clay, the work of a potter’s hands!
Lamentations 4:3 - Even jackals offer their breasts to nurse their young, but my people have become heartless like ostriches in the desert.
Lamentations 4:4 - Because of thirst the infant’s tongue sticks to the roof of its mouth; the children beg for bread, but no one gives it to them.
Lamentations 4:5 - Those who once ate delicacies are destitute in the streets. Those brought up in royal purple now lie on ash heaps.
Lamentations 4:6 - The punishment of my people is greater than that of Sodom, which was overthrown in a moment without a hand turned to help her.
Lamentations 4:7 - Their princes were brighter than snow and whiter than milk, their bodies more ruddy than rubies, their appearance like lapis lazuli.
Lamentations 4:8 - But now they are blacker than soot; they are not recognized in the streets. Their skin has shriveled on their bones; it has become as dry as a stick.
Lamentations 4:9 - Those killed by the sword are better off than those who die of famine; racked with hunger, they waste away for lack of food from the field.
Lamentations 4:10 - With their own hands compassionate women have cooked their own children, who became their food when my people were destroyed.
Jeremiah 9:10 - I will weep and wail for the mountains and take up a lament concerning the wilderness grasslands. They are desolate and untraveled, and the lowing of cattle is not heard. The birds have all fled and the animals are gone.
Ecclesiastes 4:1 - Again I looked and saw all the oppression that was taking place under the sun: I saw the tears of the oppressed— and they have no comforter; power was on the side of their oppressors— and they have no comforter.
Hosea 9:12 - Even if they rear children, I will bereave them of every one. Woe to them when I turn away from them!
Jeremiah 9:21 - Death has climbed in through our windows and has entered our fortresses; it has removed the children from the streets and the young men from the public squares.
Lamentations 1:5 - Her foes have become her masters; her enemies are at ease. The Lord has brought her grief because of her many sins. Her children have gone into exile, captive before the foe.
Lamentations 1:6 - All the splendor has departed from Daughter Zion. Her princes are like deer that find no pasture; in weakness they have fled before the pursuer.
Lamentations 3:48 - Streams of tears flow from my eyes because my people are destroyed.
Lamentations 3:49 - My eyes will flow unceasingly, without relief,
Jeremiah 14:17 - “Speak this word to them: “ ‘Let my eyes overflow with tears night and day without ceasing; for the Virgin Daughter, my people, has suffered a grievous wound, a crushing blow.
Lamentations 2:18 - The hearts of the people cry out to the Lord. You walls of Daughter Zion, let your tears flow like a river day and night; give yourself no relief, your eyes no rest.
Lamentations 2:11 - My eyes fail from weeping, I am in torment within; my heart is poured out on the ground because my people are destroyed, because children and infants faint in the streets of the city.
Jeremiah 13:17 - If you do not listen, I will weep in secret because of your pride; my eyes will weep bitterly, overflowing with tears, because the Lord’s flock will be taken captive.
Lamentations 1:2 - Bitterly she weeps at night, tears are on her cheeks. Among all her lovers there is no one to comfort her. All her friends have betrayed her; they have become her enemies.
