Romains 11:29 - Car les dons de la grâce et l’appel de Dieu sont irrévocables.
Romains 11:1 - Je demande donc : Dieu aurait-il rejeté son peuple ? Assurément pas ! En effet, ne suis-je pas moi-même Israélite, descendant d’Abraham, de la tribu de Benjamin ?
Romains 11:2 - Non, Dieu n’a pas rejeté son peuple qu’il s’est choisi d’avance. Rappelez-vous ce que dit l’Ecriture dans le passage rapportant l’histoire d’Elie dans lequel celui-ci se plaint à Dieu au sujet d’Israël :
Romains 11:3 - Seigneur, ils ont tué tes prophètes, ils ont démoli tes autels. Et moi, je suis resté tout seul, et voilà qu’ils en veulent à ma vie .
Romains 11:4 - Eh bien ! quelle a été la réponse de Dieu ? J’ai gardé en réserve pour moi sept mille hommes qui ne se sont pas prosternés devant le dieu Baal .
Romains 11:5 - Il en est de même dans le temps présent : il subsiste un reste que Dieu a librement choisi dans sa grâce.
Esaïe 40:12 - Qui a mesuré l’océan ╵dans le creux de sa main ? Qui a déterminé les dimensions du ciel ╵avec la largeur de sa main ? Qui a tassé dans un boisseau ╵toute la poussière du sol ? Qui a bien pu peser ╵les montagnes sur la bascule et les coteaux sur la balance ?
Jérémie 33:22 - Tout comme les astres du ciel ne peuvent se compter et le sable des mers ne peut se mesurer, je rendrai innombrable la descendance de David, mon serviteur, ainsi que les lévites qui sont à mon service.
Jérémie 33:24 - N’as-tu pas entendu ce que ce peuple dit : « Les deux familles que l’Eternel avait choisies, il les a rejetées » ? Ainsi ils méprisent mon peuple qui, à leurs yeux, n’est plus une nation.
Jérémie 33:25 - Voici ce que dit l’Eternel : Si je n’ai pas conclu d’alliance avec le jour, et si je n’ai pas fait d’alliance avec la nuit, si je n’ai pas instauré des lois pour le ciel et pour la terre,
Jérémie 33:26 - alors, je pourrai rejeter la descendance de Jacob et celle de mon serviteur David, et renoncer à prendre l’un de ses descendants pour gouverner les descendants d’Abraham, d’Isaac, de Jacob. Mais j’accomplirai leur restauration et je leur manifesterai ma compassion.
