Genesis 34:8 - But Hamor spoke with them, saying, “The soul of my son Shechem longs for your daughter. Please give her to him as a wife.
Genesis 34:9 - And make marriages with us; give your daughters to us, and take our daughters to yourselves.
Genesis 34:10 - So you shall dwell with us, and the land shall be before you. Dwell and trade in it, and acquire possessions for yourselves in it.”
Genesis 34:11 - Then Shechem said to her father and her brothers, “Let me find favor in your eyes, and whatever you say to me I will give.
Genesis 34:12 - Ask me ever so much dowry and gift, and I will give according to what you say to me; but give me the young woman as a wife.”
Genesis 34:13 - But the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father, and spoke deceitfully, because he had defiled Dinah their sister.
Genesis 34:14 - And they said to them, “We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a reproach to us.
Genesis 34:15 - But on this condition we will consent to you: If you will become as we are, if every male of you is circumcised,
Genesis 34:16 - then we will give our daughters to you, and we will take your daughters to us; and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people.
Genesis 34:17 - But if you will not heed us and be circumcised, then we will take our daughter and be gone.”
Genesis 34:18 - And their words pleased Hamor and Shechem, Hamor’s son.
Genesis 34:19 - So the young man did not delay to do the thing, because he delighted in Jacob’s daughter. He was more honorable than all the household of his father.
Genesis 34:20 - And Hamor and Shechem his son came to the gate of their city, and spoke with the men of their city, saying:
Genesis 34:21 - “These men are at peace with us. Therefore let them dwell in the land and trade in it. For indeed the land is large enough for them. Let us take their daughters to us as wives, and let us give them our daughters.
Genesis 34:22 - Only on this condition will the men consent to dwell with us, to be one people: if every male among us is circumcised as they are circumcised.
Genesis 34:23 - Will not their livestock, their property, and every animal of theirs be ours? Only let us consent to them, and they will dwell with us.”
Genesis 34:24 - And all who went out of the gate of his city heeded Hamor and Shechem his son; every male was circumcised, all who went out of the gate of his city.
Genesis 34:25 - Now it came to pass on the third day, when they were in pain, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, each took his sword and came boldly upon the city and killed all the males.
Genesis 34:26 - And they killed Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah from Shechem’s house, and went out.
Genesis 34:27 - The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and plundered the city, because their sister had been defiled.
Genesis 34:28 - They took their sheep, their oxen, and their donkeys, what was in the city and what was in the field,
Genesis 34:29 - and all their wealth. All their little ones and their wives they took captive; and they plundered even all that was in the houses.

I shall be destroyed, my household and I.”

Numbers 1:15 - from Naphtali, Ahira the son of Enan.”
Numbers 1:16 - These were chosen from the congregation, leaders of their fathers’ tribes, heads of the divisions in Israel.
Numbers 1:17 - Then Moses and Aaron took these men who had been mentioned by name,
Numbers 1:18 - and they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month; and they recited their ancestry by families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, each one individually.
Numbers 1:19 - As the Lord commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the Wilderness of Sinai.
Numbers 1:20 - Now the children of Reuben, Israel’s oldest son, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, every male individually, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:
Numbers 1:21 - those who were numbered of the tribe of Reuben were forty-six thousand five hundred.

Numbers 1:53 - but the Levites shall camp around the tabernacle of the Testimony, that there may be no wrath on the congregation of the children of Israel; and the Levites shall keep charge of the tabernacle of the Testimony.”
Numbers 1:54 - Thus the children of Israel did; according to all that the Lord commanded Moses, so they did.

Numbers 10:11 - Now it came to pass on the twentieth day of the second month, in the second year, that the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle of the Testimony.
Numbers 10:12 - And the children of Israel set out from the Wilderness of Sinai on their journeys; then the cloud settled down in the Wilderness of Paran.
Numbers 10:13 - So they started out for the first time according to the command of the Lord by the hand of Moses.

Numbers 26:1 - And it came to pass, after the plague, that the Lord spoke to Moses and Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, saying:
Numbers 26:2 - “Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel from twenty years old and above, by their fathers’ houses, all who are able to go to war in Israel.”
Numbers 26:3 - So Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, across from Jericho, saying:
Numbers 26:4 - “Take a census of the people from twenty years old and above, just as the Lord commanded Moses and the children of Israel who came out of the land of Egypt.”
Numbers 26:5 - Reuben was the firstborn of Israel. The children of Reuben were: of Hanoch, the family of the Hanochites; of Pallu, the family of the Palluites;

Numbers 26:58 - These are the families of the Levites: the family of the Libnites, the family of the Hebronites, the family of the Mahlites, the family of the Mushites, and the family of the Korathites. And Kohath begot Amram.
Numbers 26:59 - The name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed the daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Egypt; and to Amram she bore Aaron and Moses and their sister Miriam.
Numbers 26:60 - To Aaron were born Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
Numbers 26:61 - And Nadab and Abihu died when they offered profane fire before the Lord.
Numbers 26:62 - Now those who were numbered of them were twenty-three thousand, every male from a month old and above; for they were not numbered among the other children of Israel, because there was no inheritance given to them among the children of Israel.
Numbers 26:63 - These are those who were numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, across from Jericho.
Numbers 26:64 - But among these there was not a man of those who were numbered by Moses and Aaron the priest when they numbered the children of Israel in the Wilderness of Sinai.
Numbers 26:65 - For the Lord had said of them, “They shall surely die in the wilderness.” So there was not left a man of them, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.
Exodus 1:2 - Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah;
Exodus 1:3 - Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin;
Genesis 25:20 - Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah as wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian.
Genesis 34:1 - Now Dinah the daughter of Leah, whom she had borne to Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.
Genesis 34:2 - And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her and lay with her, and violated her.
Genesis 34:3 - His soul was strongly attracted to Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the young woman and spoke kindly to the young woman.
Genesis 34:4 - So Shechem spoke to his father Hamor, saying, “Get me this young woman as a wife.”
Genesis 34:5 - And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter. Now his sons were with his livestock in the field; so Jacob held his peace until they came.
Genesis 34:6 - Then Hamor the father of Shechem went out to Jacob to speak with him.
Genesis 34:7 - And the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard it; and the men were grieved and very angry, because he had done a disgraceful thing in Israel by lying with Jacob’s daughter, a thing which ought not to be done.
Genesis 34:8 - But Hamor spoke with them, saying, “The soul of my son Shechem longs for your daughter. Please give her to him as a wife.
Genesis 34:9 - And make marriages with us; give your daughters to us, and take our daughters to yourselves.
Genesis 34:10 - So you shall dwell with us, and the land shall be before you. Dwell and trade in it, and acquire possessions for yourselves in it.”
Genesis 34:11 - Then Shechem said to her father and her brothers, “Let me find favor in your eyes, and whatever you say to me I will give.
Genesis 34:12 - Ask me ever so much dowry and gift, and I will give according to what you say to me; but give me the young woman as a wife.”
Genesis 34:13 - But the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father, and spoke deceitfully, because he had defiled Dinah their sister.
Genesis 34:14 - And they said to them, “We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a reproach to us.
Genesis 34:15 - But on this condition we will consent to you: If you will become as we are, if every male of you is circumcised,
Genesis 34:16 - then we will give our daughters to you, and we will take your daughters to us; and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people.
Genesis 34:17 - But if you will not heed us and be circumcised, then we will take our daughter and be gone.”
Genesis 34:18 - And their words pleased Hamor and Shechem, Hamor’s son.
Genesis 34:19 - So the young man did not delay to do the thing, because he delighted in Jacob’s daughter. He was more honorable than all the household of his father.
Genesis 34:20 - And Hamor and Shechem his son came to the gate of their city, and spoke with the men of their city, saying:
Genesis 34:21 - “These men are at peace with us. Therefore let them dwell in the land and trade in it. For indeed the land is large enough for them. Let us take their daughters to us as wives, and let us give them our daughters.
Genesis 34:22 - Only on this condition will the men consent to dwell with us, to be one people: if every male among us is circumcised as they are circumcised.
Genesis 34:23 - Will not their livestock, their property, and every animal of theirs be ours? Only let us consent to them, and they will dwell with us.”
Genesis 34:24 - And all who went out of the gate of his city heeded Hamor and Shechem his son; every male was circumcised, all who went out of the gate of his city.
Genesis 34:25 - Now it came to pass on the third day, when they were in pain, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, each took his sword and came boldly upon the city and killed all the males.
Genesis 34:26 - And they killed Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah from Shechem’s house, and went out.
Genesis 34:27 - The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and plundered the city, because their sister had been defiled.
Genesis 34:28 - They took their sheep, their oxen, and their donkeys, what was in the city and what was in the field,
Genesis 34:29 - and all their wealth. All their little ones and their wives they took captive; and they plundered even all that was in the houses.
Genesis 34:30 - Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, “You have troubled me by making me obnoxious among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites; and since I am few in number, they will gather themselves together against me and kill me. I shall be destroyed, my household and I.”
Genesis 34:31 - But they said, “Should he treat our sister like a harlot?”
1 Chronicles 2:1 - These were the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,
Genesis 49:3 - “Reuben, you are my firstborn, My might and the beginning of my strength, The excellency of dignity and the excellency of power.
Genesis 49:4 - Unstable as water, you shall not excel, Because you went up to your father’s bed; Then you defiled it— He went up to my couch.
Genesis 49:5 - “Simeon and Levi are brothers; Instruments of cruelty are in their dwelling place.
Genesis 49:6 - Let not my soul enter their council; Let not my honor be united to their assembly; For in their anger they slew a man, And in their self-will they hamstrung an ox.
Genesis 49:7 - Cursed be their anger, for it is fierce; And their wrath, for it is cruel! I will divide them in Jacob And scatter them in Israel.
Genesis 49:8 - “Judah, you are he whom your brothers shall praise; Your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; Your father’s children shall bow down before you.
Genesis 49:9 - Judah is a lion’s whelp; From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He bows down, he lies down as a lion; And as a lion, who shall rouse him?
Genesis 49:10 - The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor a lawgiver from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes; And to Him shall be the obedience of the people.
Genesis 49:11 - Binding his donkey to the vine, And his donkey’s colt to the choice vine, He washed his garments in wine, And his clothes in the blood of grapes.
Genesis 49:12 - His eyes are darker than wine, And his teeth whiter than milk.
Genesis 49:13 - “Zebulun shall dwell by the haven of the sea; He shall become a haven for ships, And his border shall adjoin Sidon.
Genesis 49:14 - “Issachar is a strong donkey, Lying down between two burdens;
Genesis 49:15 - He saw that rest was good, And that the land was pleasant; He bowed his shoulder to bear a burden, And became a band of slaves.
Numbers 1:1 - Now the Lord spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying:
Numbers 1:2 - “Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, every male individually,
Numbers 1:3 - from twenty years old and above—all who are able to go to war in Israel. You and Aaron shall number them by their armies.
Numbers 1:4 - And with you there shall be a man from every tribe, each one the head of his father’s house.
Numbers 1:5 - “These are the names of the men who shall stand with you: from Reuben, Elizur the son of Shedeur;
Numbers 1:6 - from Simeon, Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai;
Numbers 1:7 - from Judah, Nahshon the son of Amminadab;
Numbers 1:8 - from Issachar, Nethanel the son of Zuar;
Numbers 1:9 - from Zebulun, Eliab the son of Helon;
Numbers 1:10 - from the sons of Joseph: from Ephraim, Elishama the son of Ammihud; from Manasseh, Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur;
Numbers 1:11 - from Benjamin, Abidan the son of Gideoni;
Numbers 1:12 - from Dan, Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai;
Numbers 1:13 - from Asher, Pagiel the son of Ocran;
Numbers 1:14 - from Gad, Eliasaph the son of Deuel;
Numbers 1:15 - from Naphtali, Ahira the son of Enan.”
Numbers 1:16 - These were chosen from the congregation, leaders of their fathers’ tribes, heads of the divisions in Israel.
Numbers 1:17 - Then Moses and Aaron took these men who had been mentioned by name,
Numbers 1:18 - and they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month; and they recited their ancestry by families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, each one individually.
Numbers 1:19 - As the Lord commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the Wilderness of Sinai.
Numbers 1:20 - Now the children of Reuben, Israel’s oldest son, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, every male individually, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:
Numbers 1:21 - those who were numbered of the tribe of Reuben were forty-six thousand five hundred.
Numbers 1:22 - From the children of Simeon, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, of those who were numbered, according to the number of names, every male individually, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:
Numbers 1:23 - those who were numbered of the tribe of Simeon were fifty-nine thousand three hundred.
Numbers 1:24 - From the children of Gad, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:
Numbers 1:25 - those who were numbered of the tribe of Gad were forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty.
Numbers 1:26 - From the children of Judah, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:
Numbers 1:27 - those who were numbered of the tribe of Judah were seventy-four thousand six hundred.
Numbers 1:28 - From the children of Issachar, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:
Numbers 1:29 - those who were numbered of the tribe of Issachar were fifty-four thousand four hundred.
Numbers 1:30 - From the children of Zebulun, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:
Numbers 1:31 - those who were numbered of the tribe of Zebulun were fifty-seven thousand four hundred.
Numbers 1:32 - From the sons of Joseph, the children of Ephraim, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:
Numbers 1:33 - those who were numbered of the tribe of Ephraim were forty thousand five hundred.
Numbers 1:34 - From the children of Manasseh, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:
Numbers 1:35 - those who were numbered of the tribe of Manasseh were thirty-two thousand two hundred.
Numbers 1:36 - From the children of Benjamin, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:
Numbers 1:37 - those who were numbered of the tribe of Benjamin were thirty-five thousand four hundred.
Numbers 1:38 - From the children of Dan, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:
Numbers 1:39 - those who were numbered of the tribe of Dan were sixty-two thousand seven hundred.
Numbers 1:40 - From the children of Asher, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:
Numbers 1:41 - those who were numbered of the tribe of Asher were forty-one thousand five hundred.
Numbers 1:42 - From the children of Naphtali, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:
Numbers 1:43 - those who were numbered of the tribe of Naphtali were fifty-three thousand four hundred.
Numbers 1:44 - These are the ones who were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron numbered, with the leaders of Israel, twelve men, each one representing his father’s house.
Numbers 1:45 - So all who were numbered of the children of Israel, by their fathers’ houses, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war in Israel—
Numbers 1:46 - all who were numbered were six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty.
Numbers 1:47 - But the Levites were not numbered among them by their fathers’ tribe;
Numbers 1:48 - for the Lord had spoken to Moses, saying:
Numbers 1:49 - “Only the tribe of Levi you shall not number, nor take a census of them among the children of Israel;
Numbers 1:50 - but you shall appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the Testimony, over all its furnishings, and over all things that belong to it; they shall carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings; they shall attend to it and camp around the tabernacle.
Numbers 1:51 - And when the tabernacle is to go forward, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall set it up. The outsider who comes near shall be put to death.
Numbers 1:52 - The children of Israel shall pitch their tents, everyone by his own camp, everyone by his own standard, according to their armies;
Numbers 1:53 - but the Levites shall camp around the tabernacle of the Testimony, that there may be no wrath on the congregation of the children of Israel; and the Levites shall keep charge of the tabernacle of the Testimony.”
Numbers 1:54 - Thus the children of Israel did; according to all that the Lord commanded Moses, so they did.
Genesis 35:23 - the sons of Leah were Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn, and Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun;
Numbers 10:1 - And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
Numbers 10:2 - “Make two silver trumpets for yourself; you shall make them of hammered work; you shall use them for calling the congregation and for directing the movement of the camps.
Numbers 10:3 - When they blow both of them, all the congregation shall gather before you at the door of the tabernacle of meeting.
Numbers 10:4 - But if they blow only one, then the leaders, the heads of the divisions of Israel, shall gather to you.
Numbers 10:5 - When you sound the advance, the camps that lie on the east side shall then begin their journey.
Numbers 10:6 - When you sound the advance the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall begin their journey; they shall sound the call for them to begin their journeys.
Numbers 10:7 - And when the assembly is to be gathered together, you shall blow, but not sound the advance.
Numbers 10:8 - The sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets; and these shall be to you as an ordinance forever throughout your generations.
Numbers 10:9 - “When you go to war in your land against the enemy who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, and you will be remembered before the Lord your God, and you will be saved from your enemies.
Numbers 10:10 - Also in the day of your gladness, in your appointed feasts, and at the beginning of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; and they shall be a memorial for you before your God: I am the Lord your God.”
Numbers 10:11 - Now it came to pass on the twentieth day of the second month, in the second year, that the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle of the Testimony.
Numbers 10:12 - And the children of Israel set out from the Wilderness of Sinai on their journeys; then the cloud settled down in the Wilderness of Paran.
Numbers 10:13 - So they started out for the first time according to the command of the Lord by the hand of Moses.
Numbers 10:14 - The standard of the camp of the children of Judah set out first according to their armies; over their army was Nahshon the son of Amminadab.
Numbers 10:15 - Over the army of the tribe of the children of Issachar was Nethanel the son of Zuar.
Numbers 10:16 - And over the army of the tribe of the children of Zebulun was Eliab the son of Helon.
Numbers 10:17 - Then the tabernacle was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari set out, carrying the tabernacle.
Numbers 10:18 - And the standard of the camp of Reuben set out according to their armies; over their army was Elizur the son of Shedeur.
Numbers 10:19 - Over the army of the tribe of the children of Simeon was Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
Numbers 10:20 - And over the army of the tribe of the children of Gad was Eliasaph the son of Deuel.
Numbers 10:21 - Then the Kohathites set out, carrying the holy things. (The tabernacle would be prepared for their arrival.)
Numbers 10:22 - And the standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim set out according to their armies; over their army was Elishama the son of Ammihud.
Numbers 10:23 - Over the army of the tribe of the children of Manasseh was Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
Numbers 10:24 - And over the army of the tribe of the children of Benjamin was Abidan the son of Gideoni.
Numbers 10:25 - Then the standard of the camp of the children of Dan (the rear guard of all the camps) set out according to their armies; over their army was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
Numbers 10:26 - Over the army of the tribe of the children of Asher was Pagiel the son of Ocran.
Numbers 10:27 - And over the army of the tribe of the children of Naphtali was Ahira the son of Enan.
Numbers 10:28 - Thus was the order of march of the children of Israel, according to their armies, when they began their journey.
Numbers 10:29 - Now Moses said to Hobab the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law, “We are setting out for the place of which the Lord said, ‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and we will treat you well; for the Lord has promised good things to Israel.”
Numbers 10:30 - And he said to him, “I will not go, but I will depart to my own land and to my relatives.”
Numbers 10:31 - So Moses said, “Please do not leave, inasmuch as you know how we are to camp in the wilderness, and you can be our eyes.
Numbers 10:32 - And it shall be, if you go with us—indeed it shall be—that whatever good the Lord will do to us, the same we will do to you.”
Numbers 10:33 - So they departed from the mountain of the Lord on a journey of three days; and the ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them for the three days’ journey, to search out a resting place for them.
Numbers 10:34 - And the cloud of the Lord was above them by day when they went out from the camp.
Numbers 10:35 - So it was, whenever the ark set out, that Moses said: “Rise up, O Lord! Let Your enemies be scattered, And let those who hate You flee before You.”
Numbers 10:36 - And when it rested, he said: “Return, O Lord, To the many thousands of Israel.”
Genesis 29:32 - So Leah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Reuben; for she said, “The Lord has surely looked on my affliction. Now therefore, my husband will love me.”
Genesis 29:33 - Then she conceived again and bore a son, and said, “Because the Lord has heard that I am unloved, He has therefore given me this son also.” And she called his name Simeon.
Genesis 29:34 - She conceived again and bore a son, and said, “Now this time my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore his name was called Levi.
Genesis 29:35 - And she conceived again and bore a son, and said, “Now I will praise the Lord.” Therefore she called his name Judah. Then she stopped bearing.
Genesis 30:17 - And God listened to Leah, and she conceived and bore Jacob a fifth son.
Genesis 30:18 - Leah said, “God has given me my wages, because I have given my maid to my husband.” So she called his name Issachar.
Genesis 30:19 - Then Leah conceived again and bore Jacob a sixth son.
Genesis 30:20 - And Leah said, “God has endowed me with a good endowment; now my husband will dwell with me, because I have borne him six sons.” So she called his name Zebulun.
Genesis 30:21 - Afterward she bore a daughter, and called her name Dinah.
