  • Numbers 8:8 - Then let them take a young bull with its grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil, and you shall take another young bull as a sin offering.
  • Numbers 8:9 - And you shall bring the Levites before the tabernacle of meeting, and you shall gather together the whole congregation of the children of Israel.
  • Numbers 8:10 - So you shall bring the Levites before the Lord, and the children of Israel shall lay their hands on the Levites;
  • Numbers 8:11 - and Aaron shall offer the Levites before the Lord like a wave offering from the children of Israel, that they may perform the work of the Lord.

  • Deuteronomy 33:8 - And of Levi he said: “Let Your Thummim and Your Urim be with Your holy one, Whom You tested at Massah, And with whom You contended at the waters of Meribah,
  • Deuteronomy 33:9 - Who says of his father and mother, ‘I have not seen them’; Nor did he acknowledge his brothers, Or know his own children; For they have observed Your word And kept Your covenant.
  • Deuteronomy 33:10 - They shall teach Jacob Your judgments, And Israel Your law. They shall put incense before You, And a whole burnt sacrifice on Your altar.
  • Deuteronomy 33:11 - Bless his substance, Lord, And accept the work of his hands; Strike the loins of those who rise against him, And of those who hate him, that they rise not again.”
  • Numbers 8:1 - And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
  • Numbers 8:2 - “Speak to Aaron, and say to him, ‘When you arrange the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light in front of the lampstand.’ ”
  • Numbers 8:3 - And Aaron did so; he arranged the lamps to face toward the front of the lampstand, as the Lord commanded Moses.
  • Numbers 8:4 - Now this workmanship of the lampstand was hammered gold; from its shaft to its flowers it was hammered work. According to the pattern which the Lord had shown Moses, so he made the lampstand.
  • Numbers 8:5 - Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
  • Numbers 8:6 - “Take the Levites from among the children of Israel and cleanse them ceremonially.
  • Numbers 8:7 - Thus you shall do to them to cleanse them: Sprinkle water of purification on them, and let them shave all their body, and let them wash their clothes, and so make themselves clean.
  • Numbers 8:8 - Then let them take a young bull with its grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil, and you shall take another young bull as a sin offering.
  • Numbers 8:9 - And you shall bring the Levites before the tabernacle of meeting, and you shall gather together the whole congregation of the children of Israel.
  • Numbers 8:10 - So you shall bring the Levites before the Lord, and the children of Israel shall lay their hands on the Levites;
  • Numbers 8:11 - and Aaron shall offer the Levites before the Lord like a wave offering from the children of Israel, that they may perform the work of the Lord.
  • Numbers 8:12 - Then the Levites shall lay their hands on the heads of the young bulls, and you shall offer one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering to the Lord, to make atonement for the Levites.
  • Numbers 8:13 - “And you shall stand the Levites before Aaron and his sons, and then offer them like a wave offering to the Lord.
  • Numbers 8:14 - Thus you shall separate the Levites from among the children of Israel, and the Levites shall be Mine.
  • Numbers 8:15 - After that the Levites shall go in to service the tabernacle of meeting. So you shall cleanse them and offer them like a wave offering.
  • Numbers 8:16 - For they are wholly given to Me from among the children of Israel; I have taken them for Myself instead of all who open the womb, the firstborn of all the children of Israel.
  • Numbers 8:17 - For all the firstborn among the children of Israel are Mine, both man and beast; on the day that I struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them to Myself.
  • Numbers 8:18 - I have taken the Levites instead of all the firstborn of the children of Israel.
  • Numbers 8:19 - And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the work for the children of Israel in the tabernacle of meeting, and to make atonement for the children of Israel, that there be no plague among the children of Israel when the children of Israel come near the sanctuary.”
  • Numbers 8:20 - Thus Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the children of Israel did to the Levites; according to all that the Lord commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so the children of Israel did to them.
  • Numbers 8:21 - And the Levites purified themselves and washed their clothes; then Aaron presented them like a wave offering before the Lord, and Aaron made atonement for them to cleanse them.
  • Numbers 8:22 - After that the Levites went in to do their work in the tabernacle of meeting before Aaron and his sons; as the Lord commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them.
  • Numbers 8:23 - Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
  • Numbers 8:24 - “This is what pertains to the Levites: From twenty-five years old and above one may enter to perform service in the work of the tabernacle of meeting;
  • Numbers 8:25 - and at the age of fifty years they must cease performing this work, and shall work no more.
  • Numbers 8:26 - They may minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of meeting, to attend to needs, but they themselves shall do no work. Thus you shall do to the Levites regarding their duties.”
  • 1 Chronicles 2:16 - Now their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. And the sons of Zeruiah were Abishai, Joab, and Asahel—three.
  • 1 Chronicles 2:11 - Nahshon begot Salma, and Salma begot Boaz;
  • 1 Chronicles 22:1 - Then David said, “This is the house of the Lord God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel.”
  • 1 Chronicles 22:2 - So David commanded to gather the aliens who were in the land of Israel; and he appointed masons to cut hewn stones to build the house of God.
  • 1 Chronicles 22:3 - And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails of the doors of the gates and for the joints, and bronze in abundance beyond measure,
  • 1 Chronicles 22:4 - and cedar trees in abundance; for the Sidonians and those from Tyre brought much cedar wood to David.
  • 1 Chronicles 22:5 - Now David said, “Solomon my son is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the Lord must be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all countries. I will now make preparation for it.” So David made abundant preparations before his death.
  • 1 Chronicles 22:6 - Then he called for his son Solomon, and charged him to build a house for the Lord God of Israel.
  • 1 Chronicles 22:7 - And David said to Solomon: “My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build a house to the name of the Lord my God;
  • 1 Chronicles 22:8 - but the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘You have shed much blood and have made great wars; you shall not build a house for My name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in My sight.
  • 1 Chronicles 22:9 - Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies all around. His name shall be Solomon, for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days.
  • 1 Chronicles 22:10 - He shall build a house for My name, and he shall be My son, and I will be his Father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’
  • 1 Chronicles 22:11 - Now, my son, may the Lord be with you; and may you prosper, and build the house of the Lord your God, as He has said to you.
  • 1 Chronicles 22:12 - Only may the Lord give you wisdom and understanding, and give you charge concerning Israel, that you may keep the law of the Lord your God.
  • 1 Chronicles 22:13 - Then you will prosper, if you take care to fulfill the statutes and judgments with which the Lord charged Moses concerning Israel. Be strong and of good courage; do not fear nor be dismayed.
  • 1 Chronicles 22:14 - Indeed I have taken much trouble to prepare for the house of the Lord one hundred thousand talents of gold and one million talents of silver, and bronze and iron beyond measure, for it is so abundant. I have prepared timber and stone also, and you may add to them.
  • 1 Chronicles 22:15 - Moreover there are workmen with you in abundance: woodsmen and stonecutters, and all types of skillful men for every kind of work.
  • 1 Chronicles 22:16 - Of gold and silver and bronze and iron there is no limit. Arise and begin working, and the Lord be with you.”
  • 1 Chronicles 22:17 - David also commanded all the leaders of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying,
  • 1 Chronicles 22:18 - “Is not the Lord your God with you? And has He not given you rest on every side? For He has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land is subdued before the Lord and before His people.
  • 1 Chronicles 22:19 - Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God. Therefore arise and build the sanctuary of the Lord God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord and the holy articles of God into the house that is to be built for the name of the Lord.”
  • Numbers 3:17 - These were the sons of Levi by their names: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
  • Numbers 3:18 - And these are the names of the sons of Gershon by their families: Libni and Shimei.
  • Numbers 3:19 - And the sons of Kohath by their families: Amram, Izehar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
  • Numbers 3:20 - And the sons of Merari by their families: Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites by their fathers’ houses.
  • Numbers 3:21 - From Gershon came the family of the Libnites and the family of the Shimites; these were the families of the Gershonites.
  • Numbers 3:22 - Those who were numbered, according to the number of all the males from a month old and above—of those who were numbered there were seven thousand five hundred.
  • 1 Chronicles 6:1 - The sons of Levi were Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
  • 1 Chronicles 6:2 - The sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
  • 1 Chronicles 6:3 - The children of Amram were Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. And the sons of Aaron were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
  • Exodus 6:16 - These are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. And the years of the life of Levi were one hundred and thirty-seven.
  • Genesis 49:5 - “Simeon and Levi are brothers; Instruments of cruelty are in their dwelling place.
  • Genesis 49:6 - Let not my soul enter their council; Let not my honor be united to their assembly; For in their anger they slew a man, And in their self-will they hamstrung an ox.
  • Genesis 49:7 - Cursed be their anger, for it is fierce; And their wrath, for it is cruel! I will divide them in Jacob And scatter them in Israel.
  • Genesis 29:34 - She conceived again and bore a son, and said, “Now this time my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore his name was called Levi.
