  • Luke 6:25 - Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.
  • John 16:20 - Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.
  • John 16:21 - A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.

  • 2 Corinthians 7:10 - Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.
  • 2 Corinthians 7:11 - See what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done. At every point you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter.
