  • Numbers 18:6 - I myself have selected your fellow Levites from among the Israelites as a gift to you, dedicated to the Lord to do the work at the tent of meeting.

  • Numbers 8:16 - They are the Israelites who are to be given wholly to me. I have taken them as my own in place of the firstborn, the first male offspring from every Israelite woman.
  • Numbers 8:17 - Every firstborn male in Israel, whether human or animal, is mine. When I struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, I set them apart for myself.
  • Numbers 8:18 - And I have taken the Levites in place of all the firstborn sons in Israel.
  • Numbers 8:19 - From among all the Israelites, I have given the Levites as gifts to Aaron and his sons to do the work at the tent of meeting on behalf of the Israelites and to make atonement for them so that no plague will strike the Israelites when they go near the sanctuary.”
  • Numbers 8:20 - Moses, Aaron and the whole Israelite community did with the Levites just as the Lord commanded Moses.
  • Numbers 8:21 - The Levites purified themselves and washed their clothes. Then Aaron presented them as a wave offering before the Lord and made atonement for them to purify them.
  • Numbers 8:22 - After that, the Levites came to do their work at the tent of meeting under the supervision of Aaron and his sons. They did with the Levites just as the Lord commanded Moses.
  • Numbers 8:23 - The Lord said to Moses,
  • Numbers 8:24 - “This applies to the Levites: Men twenty-five years old or more shall come to take part in the work at the tent of meeting,
  • Numbers 8:25 - but at the age of fifty, they must retire from their regular service and work no longer.
  • Numbers 8:26 - They may assist their brothers in performing their duties at the tent of meeting, but they themselves must not do the work. This, then, is how you are to assign the responsibilities of the Levites.”
  • Ezekiel 44:11 - They may serve in my sanctuary, having charge of the gates of the temple and serving in it; they may slaughter the burnt offerings and sacrifices for the people and stand before the people and serve them.
  • 2 Corinthians 6:17 - Therefore, “Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.”
  • Leviticus 8:9 - Then he placed the turban on Aaron’s head and set the gold plate, the sacred emblem, on the front of it, as the Lord commanded Moses.
  • Leviticus 9:22 - Then Aaron lifted his hands toward the people and blessed them. And having sacrificed the sin offering, the burnt offering and the fellowship offering, he stepped down.
  • Numbers 16:9 - Isn’t it enough for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the rest of the Israelite community and brought you near himself to do the work at the Lord’s tabernacle and to stand before the community and minister to them?
  • Numbers 16:10 - He has brought you and all your fellow Levites near himself, but now you are trying to get the priesthood too.
  • 1 Chronicles 15:26 - Because God had helped the Levites who were carrying the ark of the covenant of the Lord, seven bulls and seven rams were sacrificed.
  • Numbers 1:47 - The ancestral tribe of the Levites, however, was not counted along with the others.
  • Numbers 1:48 - The Lord had said to Moses:
  • Numbers 1:49 - “You must not count the tribe of Levi or include them in the census of the other Israelites.
  • Numbers 1:50 - Instead, appoint the Levites to be in charge of the tabernacle of the covenant law—over all its furnishings and everything belonging to it. They are to carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings; they are to take care of it and encamp around it.
  • Numbers 1:51 - Whenever the tabernacle is to move, the Levites are to take it down, and whenever the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall do it. Anyone else who approaches it is to be put to death.
  • Numbers 1:52 - The Israelites are to set up their tents by divisions, each of them in their own camp under their standard.
  • Numbers 1:53 - The Levites, however, are to set up their tents around the tabernacle of the covenant law so that my wrath will not fall on the Israelite community. The Levites are to be responsible for the care of the tabernacle of the covenant law.”
  • 1 Chronicles 15:12 - He said to them, “You are the heads of the Levitical families; you and your fellow Levites are to consecrate yourselves and bring up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel, to the place I have prepared for it.
  • 1 Chronicles 15:13 - It was because you, the Levites, did not bring it up the first time that the Lord our God broke out in anger against us. We did not inquire of him about how to do it in the prescribed way.”
  • 1 Chronicles 15:14 - So the priests and Levites consecrated themselves in order to bring up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel.
  • 1 Chronicles 15:15 - And the Levites carried the ark of God with the poles on their shoulders, as Moses had commanded in accordance with the word of the Lord.
  • John 15:16 - You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.
  • Numbers 18:1 - The Lord said to Aaron, “You, your sons and your family are to bear the responsibility for offenses connected with the sanctuary, and you and your sons alone are to bear the responsibility for offenses connected with the priesthood.
  • Numbers 18:2 - Bring your fellow Levites from your ancestral tribe to join you and assist you when you and your sons minister before the tent of the covenant law.
  • Numbers 18:3 - They are to be responsible to you and are to perform all the duties of the tent, but they must not go near the furnishings of the sanctuary or the altar. Otherwise both they and you will die.
  • Numbers 18:4 - They are to join you and be responsible for the care of the tent of meeting—all the work at the tent—and no one else may come near where you are.
  • Numbers 18:5 - “You are to be responsible for the care of the sanctuary and the altar, so that my wrath will not fall on the Israelites again.
  • Numbers 18:6 - I myself have selected your fellow Levites from among the Israelites as a gift to you, dedicated to the Lord to do the work at the tent of meeting.
  • Numbers 18:7 - But only you and your sons may serve as priests in connection with everything at the altar and inside the curtain. I am giving you the service of the priesthood as a gift. Anyone else who comes near the sanctuary is to be put to death.”
  • Numbers 18:8 - Then the Lord said to Aaron, “I myself have put you in charge of the offerings presented to me; all the holy offerings the Israelites give me I give to you and your sons as your portion, your perpetual share.
  • Numbers 18:9 - You are to have the part of the most holy offerings that is kept from the fire. From all the gifts they bring me as most holy offerings, whether grain or sin or guilt offerings, that part belongs to you and your sons.
  • Numbers 18:10 - Eat it as something most holy; every male shall eat it. You must regard it as holy.
  • Numbers 18:11 - “This also is yours: whatever is set aside from the gifts of all the wave offerings of the Israelites. I give this to you and your sons and daughters as your perpetual share. Everyone in your household who is ceremonially clean may eat it.
  • Numbers 18:12 - “I give you all the finest olive oil and all the finest new wine and grain they give the Lord as the firstfruits of their harvest.
  • Numbers 18:13 - All the land’s firstfruits that they bring to the Lord will be yours. Everyone in your household who is ceremonially clean may eat it.
  • Numbers 18:14 - “Everything in Israel that is devoted to the Lord is yours.
  • Numbers 18:15 - The first offspring of every womb, both human and animal, that is offered to the Lord is yours. But you must redeem every firstborn son and every firstborn male of unclean animals.
  • Numbers 18:16 - When they are a month old, you must redeem them at the redemption price set at five shekels of silver, according to the sanctuary shekel, which weighs twenty gerahs.
  • Numbers 18:17 - “But you must not redeem the firstborn of a cow, a sheep or a goat; they are holy. Splash their blood against the altar and burn their fat as a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord.
  • Numbers 18:18 - Their meat is to be yours, just as the breast of the wave offering and the right thigh are yours.
  • Numbers 18:19 - Whatever is set aside from the holy offerings the Israelites present to the Lord I give to you and your sons and daughters as your perpetual share. It is an everlasting covenant of salt before the Lord for both you and your offspring.”
  • Numbers 18:20 - The Lord said to Aaron, “You will have no inheritance in their land, nor will you have any share among them; I am your share and your inheritance among the Israelites.
  • Numbers 18:21 - “I give to the Levites all the tithes in Israel as their inheritance in return for the work they do while serving at the tent of meeting.
  • Numbers 18:22 - From now on the Israelites must not go near the tent of meeting, or they will bear the consequences of their sin and will die.
  • Numbers 18:23 - It is the Levites who are to do the work at the tent of meeting and bear the responsibility for any offenses they commit against it. This is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. They will receive no inheritance among the Israelites.
  • Numbers 18:24 - Instead, I give to the Levites as their inheritance the tithes that the Israelites present as an offering to the Lord. That is why I said concerning them: ‘They will have no inheritance among the Israelites.’ ”
  • Numbers 18:25 - The Lord said to Moses,
  • Numbers 18:26 - “Speak to the Levites and say to them: ‘When you receive from the Israelites the tithe I give you as your inheritance, you must present a tenth of that tithe as the Lord’s offering.
  • Numbers 18:27 - Your offering will be reckoned to you as grain from the threshing floor or juice from the winepress.
  • Numbers 18:28 - In this way you also will present an offering to the Lord from all the tithes you receive from the Israelites. From these tithes you must give the Lord’s portion to Aaron the priest.
  • Numbers 18:29 - You must present as the Lord’s portion the best and holiest part of everything given to you.’
  • Numbers 18:30 - “Say to the Levites: ‘When you present the best part, it will be reckoned to you as the product of the threshing floor or the winepress.
  • Numbers 18:31 - You and your households may eat the rest of it anywhere, for it is your wages for your work at the tent of meeting.
  • Numbers 18:32 - By presenting the best part of it you will not be guilty in this matter; then you will not defile the holy offerings of the Israelites, and you will not die.’ ”
  • Numbers 6:23 - “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:
  • Numbers 6:24 - “ ‘ “The Lord bless you and keep you;
  • Numbers 6:25 - the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;
  • Numbers 6:26 - the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” ’
  • 2 Chronicles 30:27 - The priests and the Levites stood to bless the people, and God heard them, for their prayer reached heaven, his holy dwelling place.
  • Jeremiah 15:19 - Therefore this is what the Lord says: “If you repent, I will restore you that you may serve me; if you utter worthy, not worthless, words, you will be my spokesman. Let this people turn to you, but you must not turn to them.
  • Numbers 3:6 - “Bring the tribe of Levi and present them to Aaron the priest to assist him.
  • Deuteronomy 18:5 - for the Lord your God has chosen them and their descendants out of all your tribes to stand and minister in the Lord’s name always.
  • Numbers 4:15 - “After Aaron and his sons have finished covering the holy furnishings and all the holy articles, and when the camp is ready to move, only then are the Kohathites to come and do the carrying. But they must not touch the holy things or they will die. The Kohathites are to carry those things that are in the tent of meeting.
  • Deuteronomy 21:5 - The Levitical priests shall step forward, for the Lord your God has chosen them to minister and to pronounce blessings in the name of the Lord and to decide all cases of dispute and assault.
