  • Luke 23:24 - And so Pilate decided to have their demand carried out.

  • Luke 20:19 - The scribes and the chief priests tried to lay hands on Him that very hour, and yet they feared the people; for they were aware that He had spoken this parable against them.
  • Mark 15:1 - Early in the morning the chief priests with the elders, scribes, and the entire Council immediately held a consultation; and they bound Jesus and led Him away, and turned Him over to Pilate.
  • Mark 15:2 - Pilate questioned Him: “So You are the King of the Jews?” And He answered him, “It is as you say.”
  • Mark 15:3 - And the chief priests started accusing Him of many things.
  • Mark 15:4 - But Pilate questioned Him again, saying, “Do You offer nothing in answer? See how many charges they are bringing against You!”
  • Mark 15:5 - But Jesus said nothing further in answer, so Pilate was amazed.
  • Mark 15:6 - Now at the Passover Feast he used to release for them any one prisoner whom they requested.
  • Mark 15:7 - And the one named Barabbas had been imprisoned with the rebels who had committed murder in the revolt.
  • Mark 15:8 - And the crowd went up and began asking Pilate to do as he had been accustomed to do for them.
  • Mark 15:9 - Pilate answered them, saying, “Do you want me to release for you the King of the Jews?”
  • Mark 15:10 - For he was aware that the chief priests had handed Him over because of envy.
  • Mark 15:11 - But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to ask him to release Barabbas for them instead.
  • Mark 15:12 - And responding again, Pilate said to them, “Then what shall I do with Him whom you call the King of the Jews?”
  • Mark 15:13 - They shouted back, “Crucify Him!”
  • Mark 15:14 - But Pilate said to them, “Why, what evil has He done?” But they shouted all the more, “Crucify Him!”
  • Mark 15:15 - Intent on satisfying the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas for them, and after having Jesus flogged, he handed Him over to be crucified.
  • Mark 15:16 - Now the soldiers took Him away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium), and they *called together the whole Roman cohort.
  • Mark 15:17 - And they *dressed Him in purple, and after twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on Him;
  • Mark 15:18 - and they began saluting Him: “Hail, King of the Jews!”
  • Mark 15:19 - And they repeatedly beat His head with a reed and spit on Him, and kneeling, they bowed down before Him.
  • Mark 15:20 - And after they had mocked Him, they took the purple cloak off Him and put His own garments on Him. And they *led Him out to crucify Him.
  • Mark 15:21 - And they *compelled a passer-by coming from the country, Simon of Cyrene (the father of Alexander and Rufus), to carry His cross.
  • Mark 15:22 - Then they *brought Him to the place Golgotha, which is translated, Place of a Skull.
  • Mark 15:23 - And they tried to give Him wine mixed with myrrh; but He did not take it.
  • Mark 15:24 - And they *crucified Him, and *divided up His garments among themselves, casting lots for them to decide what each man would take.
  • Mark 15:25 - Now it was the third hour when they crucified Him.
  • Mark 15:26 - The inscription of the charge against Him read, “THE KING OF THE JEWS.”
  • Mark 15:27 - And they *crucified two rebels with Him, one on His right and one on His left.
  • Job 15:14 - What is man, that he would be pure, Or he who is born of a woman, that he would be righteous?
  • John 10:36 - are you saying of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’?
  • Job 25:4 - How then can mankind be righteous with God? Or how can anyone who is born of woman be pure?

  • Matthew 2:16 - Then when Herod saw that he had been tricked by the magi, he became very enraged, and sent men and killed all the boys who were in Bethlehem and all its vicinity who were two years old or under, according to the time which he had determined from the magi.
  • Luke 1:35 - The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; for that reason also the holy Child will be called the Son of God.
  • Psalms 2:2 - The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers conspire together Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
  • Mark 14:43 - And immediately, while He was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, *came up, accompanied by a crowd with swords and clubs who were from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders.
  • Mark 14:44 - Now he who was betraying Him had given them a signal, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the one; arrest Him and lead Him away under guard.”
  • Mark 14:45 - And after coming, Judas immediately went to Him and *said, “Rabbi!” and kissed Him.
  • Mark 14:46 - And they laid hands on Him and arrested Him.
  • Mark 14:47 - But one of those who stood by drew his sword, and struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his ear.
  • Mark 14:48 - And Jesus said to them, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me, as you would against a man inciting a revolt?
  • Mark 14:49 - Every day I was with you within the temple grounds teaching, and you did not arrest Me; but this has taken place so that the Scriptures will be fulfilled.”
  • Mark 14:50 - And His disciples all left Him and fled.
  • Mark 14:51 - A young man was following Him, wearing nothing but a linen sheet over his naked body; and they *seized him.
  • Mark 14:52 - But he pulled free of the linen sheet and escaped naked.
  • Mark 14:53 - They led Jesus away to the high priest; and all the chief priests, the elders, and the scribes *gathered together.
  • Mark 14:54 - And Peter had followed Him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest; and he was sitting with the officers and warming himself at the fire.
  • Mark 14:55 - Now the chief priests and the entire Council were trying to obtain testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, and they were not finding any.
  • Mark 14:56 - For many people were giving false testimony against Him, and so their testimonies were not consistent.
  • Mark 14:57 - And then some stood up and began giving false testimony against Him, saying,
  • Mark 14:58 - “We heard Him say, ‘I will destroy this temple that was made by hands, and in three days I will build another, made without hands.’ ”
  • Mark 14:59 - And not even in this respect was their testimony consistent.
  • Mark 14:60 - And then the high priest stood up and came forward and questioned Jesus, saying, “Do You not offer any answer for what these men are testifying against You?”
  • Mark 14:61 - But He kept silent and did not offer any answer. Again the high priest was questioning Him, and *said to Him, “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?”
  • Mark 14:62 - And Jesus said, “I am; and you shall see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.”
  • Mark 14:63 - Tearing his clothes, the high priest *said, “What further need do we have of witnesses?
  • Mark 14:64 - You have heard the blasphemy; how does it seem to you?” And they all condemned Him as deserving of death.
  • Mark 14:65 - And some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him with their fists and say to Him, “Prophesy!” Then the officers took custody of Him and slapped Him in the face.
  • Mark 10:33 - saying, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and will hand Him over to the Gentiles.
  • Matthew 26:59 - Now the chief priests and the entire Council kept trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus, so that they might put Him to death.
  • Matthew 26:60 - They did not find any, even though many false witnesses came forward. But later on two came forward,
  • Matthew 26:61 - and said, “This man stated, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to rebuild it in three days.’ ”
  • Matthew 26:62 - The high priest stood up and said to Him, “Do You offer no answer for what these men are testifying against You?”
  • Matthew 26:63 - But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest said to Him, “I place You under oath by the living God, to tell us whether You are the Christ, the Son of God.”
  • Matthew 26:64 - Jesus *said to him, “You have said it yourself. But I tell you, from now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
  • Matthew 26:65 - Then the high priest tore his robes and said, “He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? See, you have now heard the blasphemy;
  • Matthew 26:66 - what do you think?” They answered, “He deserves death!”
  • Matthew 26:67 - Then they spit in His face and beat Him with their fists; and others slapped Him,
  • Matthew 26:68 - and said, “Prophesy to us, You Christ; who is the one who hit You?”
  • Mark 15:31 - In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes, were mocking Him among themselves and saying, “He saved others; He cannot save Himself!
  • Job 14:4 - Who can make the clean out of the unclean? No one!
  • Luke 23:7 - And when he learned that He belonged to Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod, since he also was in Jerusalem at this time.

  • Luke 23:9 - And he questioned Him at some length; but He offered him no answer at all.
  • Luke 23:10 - Now the chief priests and the scribes stood there, vehemently charging Him.
  • Luke 23:11 - And Herod, together with his soldiers, treated Him with contempt and mocked Him, dressing Him in a brightly shining robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.
  • Luke 23:12 - And so Herod and Pilate became friends with one another that very day; for previously, they had been enemies toward each other.
  • Luke 23:13 - Now Pilate summoned to himself the chief priests, the rulers, and the people,
  • Luke 23:14 - and he said to them, “You brought this man to me on the ground that he is inciting the people to revolt; and behold, after examining Him before you, I have found no basis at all in the case of this man for the charges which you are bringing against Him.
  • Luke 23:15 - No, nor has Herod, for he sent Him back to us; and behold, nothing deserving death has been done by Him.
  • Luke 23:16 - Therefore I will punish Him and release Him.”
  • Luke 23:17 - [ Now he was obligated to release to them at the feast one prisoner.]
  • Luke 23:18 - But they cried out all together, saying, “Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas!”
  • Luke 23:19 - (He was one who had been thrown into prison for a revolt that took place in the city, and for murder.)
  • Luke 23:20 - But Pilate, wanting to release Jesus, addressed them again,
  • Luke 23:21 - but they kept on crying out, saying, “Crucify, crucify Him!”
  • Luke 23:22 - And he said to them a third time, “Why, what has this man done wrong? I have found in His case no grounds for a sentence of death; therefore I will punish Him and release Him.”
  • Luke 23:23 - But they were insistent, with loud voices, demanding that He be crucified. And their voices began to prevail.
  • Luke 23:24 - And so Pilate decided to have their demand carried out.
  • Luke 23:25 - And he released the man for whom they were asking, who had been thrown into prison for a revolt and murder; but he handed Jesus over to their will.
  • Luke 23:26 - And when they led Him away, they seized a man, Simon of Cyrene, as he was coming in from the country, and placed on him the cross to carry behind Jesus.
  • Luke 23:27 - Now following Him was a large crowd of the people, and of women who were mourning and grieving for Him.
  • Luke 23:28 - But Jesus turned to them and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, stop weeping for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.
  • Luke 23:29 - For behold, days are coming when they will say, ‘Blessed are those who cannot bear, and the wombs that have not given birth, and the breasts that have not nursed.’
  • Luke 23:30 - Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us,’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’
  • Luke 23:31 - For if they do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?”
  • Luke 23:32 - Now two others, who were criminals, were also being led away to be put to death with Him.
  • Luke 23:33 - And when they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left.
  • Luke 23:34 - [ But Jesus was saying, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.”] And they cast lots, dividing His garments among themselves.
  • Luke 23:35 - And the people stood by, watching. And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying, “He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One.”
  • Luke 23:36 - The soldiers also ridiculed Him, coming up to Him, offering Him sour wine,
  • Luke 23:37 - and saying, “If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself!”
  • Luke 23:38 - Now there was also an inscription above Him, “THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.”
  • John 19:34 - Yet one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.

  • Matthew 27:12 - And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He did not offer any answer.
  • Matthew 27:13 - Then Pilate *said to Him, “Do You not hear how many things they are testifying against You?”
  • Matthew 27:14 - And still He did not answer him in regard to even a single charge, so the governor was greatly amazed.
  • Matthew 27:15 - Now at the Passover Feast the governor was accustomed to release for the people any one prisoner whom they wanted.
  • Matthew 27:16 - And at that time they were holding a notorious prisoner called Barabbas.
  • Matthew 27:17 - So when the people gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release for you: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?”
  • Matthew 27:18 - For he knew that it was because of envy that they had handed Him over.
  • Matthew 27:19 - And while he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent him a message, saying, “See that you have nothing to do with that righteous Man; for last night I suffered greatly in a dream because of Him.”
  • Matthew 27:20 - But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowds to ask for Barabbas, and to put Jesus to death.
  • Matthew 27:21 - And the governor said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas.”
  • Matthew 27:22 - Pilate *said to them, “Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all *said, “ Crucify Him!”
  • Matthew 27:23 - But he said, “Why, what evil has He done?” Yet they kept shouting all the more, saying, “ Crucify Him!”
  • Matthew 27:24 - Now when Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but rather that a riot was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this Man’s blood; you yourselves shall see.”
  • Matthew 27:25 - And all the people replied, “His blood shall be on us and on our children!”
  • Matthew 27:26 - Then he released Barabbas for them; but after having Jesus flogged, he handed Him over to be crucified.
  • Matthew 27:27 - Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole Roman cohort to Him.
  • Matthew 27:28 - And they stripped Him and put a red cloak on Him.
  • Matthew 27:29 - And after twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and put a reed in His right hand; and they knelt down before Him and mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

  • Matthew 21:28 - “But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘ Son, go work today in the vineyard.’
  • Isaiah 53:3 - He was despised and abandoned by men, A man of great pain and familiar with sickness; And like one from whom people hide their faces, He was despised, and we had no regard for Him.
