  • Psalms 55:15 - Let death come deceitfully upon them; Let them go down alive to Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead), For evil [of every kind] is in their dwelling and in their hearts, in their midst.

  • Joshua 7:24 - Then Joshua and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, the silver, the [royal] robe, the bar of gold, his sons, his daughters, his oxen, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and everything that he had; and they brought them up to the Valley of Achor (Disaster).
  • Joshua 7:25 - Joshua said, “Why have you brought disaster on us? The Lord will bring you disaster this day.” Then all Israel stoned them [to death] with stones; afterward they burned their bodies in the fire.
  • Joshua 7:26 - Then they piled up over him a great heap of stones that remains to this day. Then the Lord turned from the fierceness of His anger. Therefore the name of that place has been called the Valley of Achor (Disaster) to this day.
  • Matthew 27:3 - When Judas, His betrayer, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was gripped with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders,
  • Matthew 27:4 - saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” They replied, “What is that to us? See to that yourself!”
  • Matthew 27:5 - And throwing the pieces of silver into the temple sanctuary, he left; and went away and hanged himself.
  • Matthew 27:6 - The chief priests, picking up the pieces of silver, said, “It is not lawful to put these in the treasury [of the temple], because it is the price of blood.”
  • Matthew 27:7 - So after consultation they used the money to buy the Potter’s Field as a burial place for strangers.
  • Matthew 27:8 - Therefore that piece of ground has been called the Field of Blood to this day.
  • Matthew 27:9 - Then the words spoken by Jeremiah the prophet were fulfilled: “And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of Him on whom a price had been set by the sons of Israel;
  • Matthew 27:10 - and they gave them for the Potter’s Field, as the Lord directed me.”
