He made them “unclean.” The kings of Israel had built them in the towns of the northern kingdom. The people in those towns had made the Lord very angry.
English Standard Version - And Josiah removed all the shrines also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which kings of Israel had made, provoking the Lord to anger. He did to them according to all that he had done at Bethel.
New Living Translation - Then Josiah demolished all the buildings at the pagan shrines in the towns of Samaria, just as he had done at Bethel. They had been built by the various kings of Israel and had made the Lord very angry.
The Message - But Josiah hadn’t finished. He now moved through all the towns of Samaria where the kings of Israel had built neighborhood sex-and-religion shrines, shrines that had so angered God. He tore the shrines down and left them in ruins—just as at Bethel. He killed all the priests who had conducted the sacrifices and cremated them on their own altars, thus desacralizing the altars. Only then did Josiah return to Jerusalem.

2 Chroniques 30:6 - Les coureurs s’en allèrent dans tout Israël et Juda porter les lettres signées par le roi et ses ministres. Le roi leur avait ordonné de proclamer : Israélites, revenez à l’Eternel, le Dieu d’Abraham, d’Isaac et d’Israël, et il reviendra à vous, vous, les rescapés, qui avez échappé à l’emprise du roi d’Assyrie .
2 Chroniques 30:7 - N’imitez pas vos pères et vos frères qui ont été infidèles à l’Eternel, le Dieu de leurs ancêtres. C’est pour cela que Dieu a fait venir la dévastation sur leur pays comme vous le constatez.
2 Chroniques 30:8 - Maintenant, ne soyez donc pas rebelles comme vos ancêtres, engagez-vous solennellement envers l’Eternel, revenez à son sanctuaire qu’il a consacré pour toujours ! Servez l’Eternel, votre Dieu, pour que sa colère ardente se détourne de vous !
2 Chroniques 30:9 - Si vous revenez vraiment à l’Eternel, vos compatriotes et vos fils qui ont été déportés trouveront de la compassion auprès de leurs conquérants qui les laisseront revenir dans ce pays ; car l’Eternel est plein de compassion et de grâce, et si vous revenez à lui, il ne vous rejettera pas.
2 Chroniques 30:10 - Les coureurs passèrent ainsi de ville en ville dans le territoire d’Ephraïm et de Manassé. Ils poussèrent au nord jusqu’au territoire de Zabulon . Mais on se moquait d’eux et on les tournait en dérision.

2 Rois 17:17 - Ils avaient fait brûler leurs fils et leurs filles pour les offrir en sacrifice à des idoles , ils avaient consulté les augures et pratiqué la divination ; ils s’étaient adonnés à toutes sortes de mauvaises actions, faisant ce que l’Eternel considère comme mal, de sorte qu’ils l’avaient irrité.
2 Rois 17:18 - Aussi l’Eternel fut-il très en colère contre Israël et les a-t-il rejetés loin de lui. Seule la tribu de Juda subsista .
2 Rois 17:9 - Les Israélites avaient commis en secret des actes inadmissibles offensant l’Eternel leur Dieu. Ils avaient édifié des hauts lieux dans toutes leurs localités, depuis les postes d’observation jusqu’aux villes fortifiées .
Jérémie 7:18 - Les enfants ramassent du bois, les pères allument le feu, les femmes pétrissent la pâte pour faire des gâteaux pour la Reine du ciel . On offre des libations à des dieux étrangers et tout cela m’irrite.
Jérémie 7:19 - Est-ce moi qu’ils offensent ? demande l’Eternel. Non, c’est plutôt eux-mêmes, à leur plus grande honte !
2 Rois 8:18 - Il suivit l’exemple des rois d’Israël, agissant comme la dynastie d’Achab, car il avait épousé une fille d’Achab . Il fit ce que l’Eternel considère comme mal.
2 Chroniques 31:1 - Lorsque toute la fête fut terminée, tous les Israélites qui se trouvaient là partirent pour les villes de Juda et brisèrent les stèles des idoles, abattirent les pieux sacrés d’Ashéra et démolirent les hauts lieux et les autels dans tout Juda et Benjamin, ainsi que dans les territoires d’Ephraïm et de Manassé, jusqu’à ce qu’il n’en reste plus. Puis tous les Israélites retournèrent dans leurs villes, chacun dans sa propriété.
1 Rois 13:32 - Car c’est sur ordre de l’Eternel qu’il a prononcé ces paroles contre l’autel de Béthel et contre tous les sanctuaires des hauts lieux qui se trouvent dans les villes de Samarie , et les menaces qu’il a proférées s’accompliront sûrement.

1 Rois 16:33 - Il érigea aussi un poteau sacré à la déesse Ashéra. Par tous ses actes, il irrita l’Eternel, le Dieu d’Israël, plus que tous les rois d’Israël qui l’avaient précédé.

2 Chroniques 34:7 - Il démolit les autels et les pieux sacrés d’Ashéra, brisa les statues d’idoles et les réduisit en poussière. Il abattit tous les autels à parfums dans tout le pays d’Israël. Ensuite, il retourna à Jérusalem.
