2 Crónicas 34:4 - En su presencia fueron destruidos los altares de los baales y los altares sobre los que se quemaba incienso; también fueron despedazadas las imágenes para el culto a Aserá, y los ídolos y las imágenes de metal fundido fueron reducidos a polvo, el cual fue esparcido sobre las tumbas de los que les habían ofrecido sacrificios.
2 Crónicas 34:5 - Quemó sobre los altares los huesos de los sacerdotes, purificando así a Judá y a Jerusalén.
2 Crónicas 34:6 - Lo mismo hizo en las ciudades de Manasés, Efraín, Simeón y Neftalí, y en sus alrededores.
2 Crónicas 34:7 - En toda la región de Israel destruyó los altares, redujo a polvo los ídolos y las imágenes de la diosa Aserá, y derribó los altares para quemar incienso. Luego regresó a Jerusalén.
2 Crónicas 34:8 - En el año dieciocho de su reinado, después de haber purificado el país y el templo, Josías envió a Safán hijo de Asalías y a Maseías, gobernador de la ciudad, junto con el secretario Joa hijo de Joacaz, a que repararan el templo del Señor su Dios.
2 Crónicas 34:9 - Estos se presentaron ante el sumo sacerdote Jilquías y le entregaron el dinero que había sido recaudado en el templo de Dios, y que los levitas porteros habían recibido de los habitantes de Manasés y Efraín, y de todo el resto de Israel, Judá y Benjamín, y de los habitantes de Jerusalén.
2 Crónicas 34:10 - Luego entregaron el dinero a los que supervisaban la restauración del templo, y estos se lo dieron a los trabajadores que estaban reparando y restaurando el templo del Señor.
2 Crónicas 34:11 - También les dieron dinero a los carpinteros y albañiles, a fin de que compraran piedras de cantera y madera para las vigas de los edificios que los reyes de Judá habían dejado deteriorar.
2 Crónicas 34:12 - Estos hombres realizaban su trabajo con honradez. Los que estaban al frente de ellos eran los levitas Yajat y Abdías, descendientes de Merari, y Zacarías y Mesulán, descendientes de Coat. Los levitas, que eran hábiles en tocar instrumentos de música,
2 Crónicas 34:13 - eran los jefes de los cargadores y de todos los que trabajaban en la obra, fuera cual fuera su tarea. Entre los levitas había cronistas, oficiales y porteros.
2 Crónicas 34:14 - Al sacar el dinero recaudado en el templo del Señor, el sacerdote Jilquías encontró el libro de la ley del Señor, dada por medio de Moisés.
2 Crónicas 34:15 - Jilquías le dijo al cronista Safán: «He encontrado el libro de la ley en el templo del Señor». Entonces se lo entregó,
2 Crónicas 34:16 - y Safán se lo llevó al rey. Le dijo: —Majestad, sus servidores están haciendo todo cuanto se les ha encargado.
2 Crónicas 34:17 - Han recogido el dinero que estaba en el templo del Señor, y se lo han entregado a los supervisores y a los trabajadores.
2 Crónicas 34:18 - En sus funciones de cronista, Safán también informó al rey que el sumo sacerdote Jilquías le había entregado un libro, el cual leyó en presencia del rey.
2 Crónicas 34:19 - Cuando el rey oyó las palabras de la ley, se rasgó las vestiduras en señal de duelo
2 Crónicas 34:20 - y dio esta orden a Jilquías, a Ajicán hijo de Safán, a Abdón hijo de Micaías, al cronista Safán y a Asaías, su ministro personal:
2 Crónicas 34:21 - —Con respecto a lo que dice este libro que se ha encontrado, vayan a consultar al Señor por mí y por el remanente de Israel y de Judá. Sin duda que la gran ira del Señor se ha derramado contra nosotros porque nuestros antepasados no tuvieron en cuenta su palabra, ni actuaron según lo que está escrito en este libro.
2 Crónicas 34:22 - Jilquías y los demás comisionados del rey fueron a consultar a la profetisa Huldá, que vivía en el barrio nuevo de Jerusalén. Huldá era la esposa de Salún, el encargado del vestuario, quien era hijo de Ticvá y nieto de Jarjás.
2 Crónicas 34:23 - Huldá les contestó: «Así dice el Señor, Dios de Israel: “Díganle al que los ha enviado
2 Crónicas 34:24 - que yo, el Señor, les advierto: ‘Voy a enviar una desgracia sobre este lugar y sus habitantes, y haré que se cumplan todas las maldiciones que están escritas en el libro que se ha leído ante el rey de Judá.
2 Crónicas 34:25 - Ellos me han abandonado; han quemado incienso a otros dioses, y con todos sus ídolos han provocado mi furor. Por eso arde mi ira contra este lugar, y no se apagará’.
2 Crónicas 34:26 - Pero al rey de Judá, que los envió para consultarme, díganle que yo, el Señor, Dios de Israel, digo en cuanto a las palabras que él ha oído:
2 Crónicas 34:27 - ‘Como te has conmovido y humillado ante mí al escuchar lo que he anunciado contra este lugar y sus habitantes, y te has rasgado las vestiduras y has llorado en mi presencia, yo te he escuchado. Yo, el Señor, lo afirmo.
2 Crónicas 34:28 - Por lo tanto, te reuniré con tus antepasados, y serás sepultado en paz. Tus ojos no verán la desgracia que voy a enviar sobre este lugar y sobre sus habitantes’ ”». Así que ellos regresaron para informar al rey.
2 Crónicas 34:29 - Entonces el rey mandó convocar a todos los ancianos de Judá y Jerusalén.
2 Crónicas 34:30 - Acompañado de todos los habitantes de Judá y de Jerusalén, de los sacerdotes, de los levitas y, en fin, de la nación entera, desde el más grande hasta el más pequeño, el rey subió al templo del Señor y, en presencia de ellos, leyó todo lo que dice el libro del pacto que fue hallado en el templo del Señor.
2 Crónicas 34:31 - Después se puso de pie, junto a la columna del rey, y ante el Señor renovó el pacto. Se comprometió a seguir al Señor y a poner en práctica, de todo corazón y con toda el alma, sus mandamientos, preceptos y decretos, cumpliendo así las palabras del pacto escritas en este libro.
2 Crónicas 34:32 - Después hizo que todos los que se encontraban en Jerusalén y en Benjamín confirmaran el pacto. Y así los habitantes de Jerusalén actuaron según el pacto del Dios de sus antepasados.
2 Crónicas 34:33 - Josías suprimió todas las costumbres detestables que había en todo el territorio de los israelitas, e hizo que todos los que se hallaban en Israel adoraran al Señor su Dios. Mientras Josías vivió, no abandonaron al Señor, Dios de sus antepasados.
