He wrecked the Baal shrines, tore down the altars connected with them, and scattered the debris and ashes over the graves of those who had worshiped at them. With Israel once more intact, he returned to Jerusalem.

2. Könige 18:4 - Er ließ die Opferstätten auf den Hügeln zerstören, zerschmetterte die Steinmale, die fremden Göttern geweiht waren, sowie den Pfahl der Göttin Aschera. Er zerschlug auch die bronzene Schlange, die Mose einst gemacht hatte, denn die Israeliten verbrannten vor ihr immer wieder Weihrauch als Opfer. Man nannte sie Nehuschtan.
1. Chronik 28:9 - Du aber, mein Sohn Salomo, ehre den Gott deines Vaters auch als deinen Gott! Diene ihm gern und von ganzem Herzen. Denn der Herr kennt alle Menschen durch und durch. 2. Chronik 33:22 - Wie sein Vater Manasse tat auch Amon, was dem Herrn missfiel. Er brachte denselben Götzen Opfer dar, die schon Manasse verehrt hatte, und diente ihnen.
