Deuteronomy 29:22 - “Then the generations to come, both your own descendants and the foreigners who come from distant lands, will see the devastation of the land and the diseases the Lord inflicts on it.
Deuteronomy 29:23 - They will exclaim, ‘The whole land is devastated by sulfur and salt. It is a wasteland with nothing planted and nothing growing, not even a blade of grass. It is like the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the Lord destroyed in his intense anger.’
Deuteronomy 29:24 - “And all the surrounding nations will ask, ‘Why has the Lord done this to this land? Why was he so angry?’
Deuteronomy 29:25 - “And the answer will be, ‘This happened because the people of the land abandoned the covenant that the Lord, the God of their ancestors, made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.
Deuteronomy 29:26 - Instead, they turned away to serve and worship gods they had not known before, gods that were not from the Lord.
Deuteronomy 29:27 - That is why the Lord’s anger has burned against this land, bringing down on it every curse recorded in this book.
Deuteronomy 29:28 - In great anger and fury the Lord uprooted his people from their land and banished them to another land, where they still live today!’
Isaiah 37:2 - And he sent Eliakim the palace administrator, Shebna the court secretary, and the leading priests, all dressed in burlap, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz.

Ezekiel 14:3 - “Son of man, these leaders have set up idols in their hearts. They have embraced things that will make them fall into sin. Why should I listen to their requests?
Ezekiel 14:4 - Tell them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: The people of Israel have set up idols in their hearts and fallen into sin, and then they go to a prophet asking for a message. So I, the Lord, will give them the kind of answer their great idolatry deserves.
Ezekiel 14:5 - I will do this to capture the minds and hearts of all my people who have turned from me to worship their detestable idols.’
Ezekiel 14:6 - “Therefore, tell the people of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Repent and turn away from your idols, and stop all your detestable sins.
Ezekiel 14:7 - I, the Lord, will answer all those, both Israelites and foreigners, who reject me and set up idols in their hearts and so fall into sin, and who then come to a prophet asking for my advice.
Ezekiel 14:8 - I will turn against such people and make a terrible example of them, eliminating them from among my people. Then you will know that I am the Lord.
Ezekiel 14:9 - “‘And if a prophet is deceived into giving a message, it is because I, the Lord, have deceived that prophet. I will lift my fist against such prophets and cut them off from the community of Israel.
Ezekiel 14:10 - False prophets and those who seek their guidance will all be punished for their sins.
Ezekiel 14:11 - In this way, the people of Israel will learn not to stray from me, polluting themselves with sin. They will be my people, and I will be their God. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!’”
Jeremiah 21:2 - “Please speak to the Lord for us and ask him to help us. King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon is attacking Judah. Perhaps the Lord will be gracious and do a mighty miracle as he has done in the past. Perhaps he will force Nebuchadnezzar to withdraw his armies.”

Ezekiel 20:1 - On August 14, during the seventh year of King Jehoiachin’s captivity, some of the leaders of Israel came to request a message from the Lord. They sat down in front of me to wait for his reply.
Ezekiel 20:2 - Then this message came to me from the Lord:
Ezekiel 20:3 - “Son of man, tell the leaders of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: How dare you come to ask me for a message? As surely as I live, says the Sovereign Lord, I will tell you nothing!’
Ezekiel 20:4 - “Son of man, bring charges against them and condemn them. Make them realize how detestable the sins of their ancestors really were.
Ezekiel 20:5 - Give them this message from the Sovereign Lord: When I chose Israel—when I revealed myself to the descendants of Jacob in Egypt—I took a solemn oath that I, the Lord, would be their God.

Deuteronomy 32:21 - They have roused my jealousy by worshiping things that are not God; they have provoked my anger with their useless idols. Now I will rouse their jealousy through people who are not even a people; I will provoke their anger through the foolish Gentiles.
Deuteronomy 32:22 - For my anger blazes forth like fire and burns to the depths of the grave. It devours the earth and all its crops and ignites the foundations of the mountains.
Deuteronomy 32:23 - I will heap disasters upon them and shoot them down with my arrows.
Deuteronomy 32:24 - I will weaken them with famine, burning fever, and deadly disease. I will send the fangs of wild beasts and poisonous snakes that glide in the dust.
Deuteronomy 32:25 - Outside, the sword will bring death, and inside, terror will strike both young men and young women, both infants and the aged.
Leviticus 26:14 - “However, if you do not listen to me or obey all these commands,
Leviticus 26:15 - and if you break my covenant by rejecting my decrees, treating my regulations with contempt, and refusing to obey my commands,
Leviticus 26:16 - I will punish you. I will bring sudden terrors upon you—wasting diseases and burning fevers that will cause your eyes to fail and your life to ebb away. You will plant your crops in vain because your enemies will eat them.

Leviticus 26:23 - “And if you fail to learn the lesson and continue your hostility toward me,
Leviticus 26:24 - then I myself will be hostile toward you. I will personally strike you with calamity seven times over for your sins.
Leviticus 26:25 - I will send armies against you to carry out the curse of the covenant you have broken. When you run to your towns for safety, I will send a plague to destroy you there, and you will be handed over to your enemies.
Leviticus 26:26 - I will destroy your food supply, so that ten women will need only one oven to bake bread for their families. They will ration your food by weight, and though you have food to eat, you will not be satisfied.
Leviticus 26:27 - “If in spite of all this you still refuse to listen and still remain hostile toward me,
Leviticus 26:28 - then I will give full vent to my hostility. I myself will punish you seven times over for your sins.
Leviticus 26:29 - Then you will eat the flesh of your own sons and daughters.
Leviticus 26:30 - I will destroy your pagan shrines and knock down your places of worship. I will leave your lifeless corpses piled on top of your lifeless idols, and I will despise you.
Leviticus 26:31 - I will make your cities desolate and destroy your places of pagan worship. I will take no pleasure in your offerings that should be a pleasing aroma to me.
Leviticus 26:32 - Yes, I myself will devastate your land, and your enemies who come to occupy it will be appalled at what they see.
Leviticus 26:33 - I will scatter you among the nations and bring out my sword against you. Your land will become desolate, and your cities will lie in ruins.
Leviticus 26:34 - Then at last the land will enjoy its neglected Sabbath years as it lies desolate while you are in exile in the land of your enemies. Then the land will finally rest and enjoy the Sabbaths it missed.
Leviticus 26:35 - As long as the land lies in ruins, it will enjoy the rest you never allowed it to take every seventh year while you lived in it.
Leviticus 26:36 - “And for those of you who survive, I will demoralize you in the land of your enemies. You will live in such fear that the sound of a leaf driven by the wind will send you fleeing. You will run as though fleeing from a sword, and you will fall even when no one pursues you.

Leviticus 26:45 - For their sakes I will remember my ancient covenant with their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of all the nations, that I might be their God. I am the Lord.”
Leviticus 26:46 - These are the decrees, regulations, and instructions that the Lord gave through Moses on Mount Sinai as evidence of the relationship between himself and the Israelites.
2 Kings 17:6 - Finally, in the ninth year of King Hoshea’s reign, Samaria fell, and the people of Israel were exiled to Assyria. They were settled in colonies in Halah, along the banks of the Habor River in Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
2 Kings 17:7 - This disaster came upon the people of Israel because they worshiped other gods. They sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them safely out of Egypt and had rescued them from the power of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt.
2 Chronicles 33:11 - So the Lord sent the commanders of the Assyrian armies, and they took Manasseh prisoner. They put a ring through his nose, bound him in bronze chains, and led him away to Babylon.
Romans 4:15 - For the law always brings punishment on those who try to obey it. (The only way to avoid breaking the law is to have no law to break!)
1 Kings 22:5 - Then Jehoshaphat added, “But first let’s find out what the Lord says.”
1 Kings 22:6 - So the king of Israel summoned the prophets, about 400 of them, and asked them, “Should I go to war against Ramoth-gilead, or should I hold back?” They all replied, “Yes, go right ahead! The Lord will give the king victory.”
1 Kings 22:7 - But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there not also a prophet of the Lord here? We should ask him the same question.”
Deuteronomy 31:16 - The Lord said to Moses, “You are about to die and join your ancestors. After you are gone, these people will begin to worship foreign gods, the gods of the land where they are going. They will abandon me and break my covenant that I have made with them.
Deuteronomy 31:17 - Then my anger will blaze forth against them. I will abandon them, hiding my face from them, and they will be devoured. Terrible trouble will come down on them, and on that day they will say, ‘These disasters have come down on us because God is no longer among us!’
Deuteronomy 31:18 - At that time I will hide my face from them on account of all the evil they commit by worshiping other gods.
Deuteronomy 31:19 - “So write down the words of this song, and teach it to the people of Israel. Help them learn it, so it may serve as a witness for me against them.
Deuteronomy 31:20 - For I will bring them into the land I swore to give their ancestors—a land flowing with milk and honey. There they will become prosperous, eat all the food they want, and become fat. But they will begin to worship other gods; they will despise me and break my covenant.
Deuteronomy 31:21 - And when great disasters come down on them, this song will stand as evidence against them, for it will never be forgotten by their descendants. I know the intentions of these people, even now before they have entered the land I swore to give them.”
Deuteronomy 31:22 - So that very day Moses wrote down the words of the song and taught it to the Israelites.
Deuteronomy 30:17 - “But if your heart turns away and you refuse to listen, and if you are drawn away to serve and worship other gods,
Deuteronomy 30:18 - then I warn you now that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live a long, good life in the land you are crossing the Jordan to occupy.
Deuteronomy 30:19 - “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!
2 Kings 22:13 - “Go to the Temple and speak to the Lord for me and for the people and for all Judah. Inquire about the words written in this scroll that has been found. For the Lord’s great anger is burning against us because our ancestors have not obeyed the words in this scroll. We have not been doing everything it says we must do.”
Exodus 18:15 - Moses replied, “Because the people come to me to get a ruling from God.
2 Chronicles 29:8 - “That is why the Lord’s anger has fallen upon Judah and Jerusalem. He has made them an object of dread, horror, and ridicule, as you can see with your own eyes.
Deuteronomy 29:18 - I am making this covenant with you so that no one among you—no man, woman, clan, or tribe—will turn away from the Lord our God to worship these gods of other nations, and so that no root among you bears bitter and poisonous fruit.
Deuteronomy 29:19 - “Those who hear the warnings of this curse should not congratulate themselves, thinking, ‘I am safe, even though I am following the desires of my own stubborn heart.’ This would lead to utter ruin!
Deuteronomy 29:20 - The Lord will never pardon such people. Instead his anger and jealousy will burn against them. All the curses written in this book will come down on them, and the Lord will erase their names from under heaven.
Deuteronomy 29:21 - The Lord will separate them from all the tribes of Israel, to pour out on them all the curses of the covenant recorded in this Book of Instruction.
Deuteronomy 29:22 - “Then the generations to come, both your own descendants and the foreigners who come from distant lands, will see the devastation of the land and the diseases the Lord inflicts on it.
Deuteronomy 29:23 - They will exclaim, ‘The whole land is devastated by sulfur and salt. It is a wasteland with nothing planted and nothing growing, not even a blade of grass. It is like the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the Lord destroyed in his intense anger.’
Deuteronomy 29:24 - “And all the surrounding nations will ask, ‘Why has the Lord done this to this land? Why was he so angry?’
Deuteronomy 29:25 - “And the answer will be, ‘This happened because the people of the land abandoned the covenant that the Lord, the God of their ancestors, made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.
Deuteronomy 29:26 - Instead, they turned away to serve and worship gods they had not known before, gods that were not from the Lord.
Deuteronomy 29:27 - That is why the Lord’s anger has burned against this land, bringing down on it every curse recorded in this book.
Deuteronomy 29:28 - In great anger and fury the Lord uprooted his people from their land and banished them to another land, where they still live today!’
Isaiah 37:2 - And he sent Eliakim the palace administrator, Shebna the court secretary, and the leading priests, all dressed in burlap, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz.
Isaiah 37:3 - They told him, “This is what King Hezekiah says: Today is a day of trouble, insults, and disgrace. It is like when a child is ready to be born, but the mother has no strength to deliver the baby.
Isaiah 37:4 - But perhaps the Lord your God has heard the Assyrian chief of staff, sent by the king to defy the living God, and will punish him for his words. Oh, pray for those of us who are left!”
Deuteronomy 28:15 - “But if you refuse to listen to the Lord your God and do not obey all the commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come and overwhelm you:
1 Samuel 9:9 - (In those days if people wanted a message from God, they would say, “Let’s go and ask the seer,” for prophets used to be called seers.)
Romans 2:8 - But he will pour out his anger and wrath on those who live for themselves, who refuse to obey the truth and instead live lives of wickedness.
Romans 2:9 - There will be trouble and calamity for everyone who keeps on doing what is evil—for the Jew first and also for the Gentile.
Romans 2:10 - But there will be glory and honor and peace from God for all who do good—for the Jew first and also for the Gentile.
Romans 2:11 - For God does not show favoritism.
Romans 2:12 - When the Gentiles sin, they will be destroyed, even though they never had God’s written law. And the Jews, who do have God’s law, will be judged by that law when they fail to obey it.
2 Chronicles 28:6 - In a single day Pekah son of Remaliah, Israel’s king, killed 120,000 of Judah’s troops, all of them experienced warriors, because they had abandoned the Lord, the God of their ancestors.
Ezekiel 14:1 - Then some of the leaders of Israel visited me, and while they were sitting with me,
Ezekiel 14:2 - this message came to me from the Lord:
Ezekiel 14:3 - “Son of man, these leaders have set up idols in their hearts. They have embraced things that will make them fall into sin. Why should I listen to their requests?
Ezekiel 14:4 - Tell them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: The people of Israel have set up idols in their hearts and fallen into sin, and then they go to a prophet asking for a message. So I, the Lord, will give them the kind of answer their great idolatry deserves.
Ezekiel 14:5 - I will do this to capture the minds and hearts of all my people who have turned from me to worship their detestable idols.’
Ezekiel 14:6 - “Therefore, tell the people of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Repent and turn away from your idols, and stop all your detestable sins.
Ezekiel 14:7 - I, the Lord, will answer all those, both Israelites and foreigners, who reject me and set up idols in their hearts and so fall into sin, and who then come to a prophet asking for my advice.
Ezekiel 14:8 - I will turn against such people and make a terrible example of them, eliminating them from among my people. Then you will know that I am the Lord.
Ezekiel 14:9 - “‘And if a prophet is deceived into giving a message, it is because I, the Lord, have deceived that prophet. I will lift my fist against such prophets and cut them off from the community of Israel.
Ezekiel 14:10 - False prophets and those who seek their guidance will all be punished for their sins.
Ezekiel 14:11 - In this way, the people of Israel will learn not to stray from me, polluting themselves with sin. They will be my people, and I will be their God. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!’”
Jeremiah 21:2 - “Please speak to the Lord for us and ask him to help us. King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon is attacking Judah. Perhaps the Lord will be gracious and do a mighty miracle as he has done in the past. Perhaps he will force Nebuchadnezzar to withdraw his armies.”
