  • Esther 8:13 - A copy of what was written was to be issued as a decree in every province, being publicly displayed to all peoples, and the Jews were to be ready on that day to take vengeance on their enemies.
  • 2 Samuel 11:14 - In the morning David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it by the hand of Uriah.

  • 2 Kings 10:5 - So he who was over the palace, and he who was over the city, together with the elders and the guardians, sent to Jehu, saying, “We are your servants, and we will do all that you tell us. We will not make anyone king. Do whatever is good in your eyes.”
  • 2 Kings 10:6 - Then he wrote to them a second letter, saying, “If you are on my side, and if you are ready to obey me, take the heads of your master’s sons and come to me at Jezreel tomorrow at this time.” Now the king’s sons, seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, who were bringing them up.
  • 2 Kings 10:7 - And as soon as the letter came to them, they took the king’s sons and slaughtered them, seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets and sent them to him at Jezreel.
  • 1 Kings 20:7 - Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land and said, “Mark, now, and see how this man is seeking trouble, for he sent to me for my wives and my children, and for my silver and my gold, and I did not refuse him.”
  • Deuteronomy 16:18 - “You shall appoint judges and officers in all your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.
  • Deuteronomy 16:19 - You shall not pervert justice. You shall not show partiality, and you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous.

  • Deuteronomy 21:3 - And the elders of the city that is nearest to the slain man shall take a heifer that has never been worked and that has not pulled in a yoke.
  • Deuteronomy 21:4 - And the elders of that city shall bring the heifer down to a valley with running water, which is neither plowed nor sown, and shall break the heifer’s neck there in the valley.
  • Deuteronomy 21:5 - Then the priests, the sons of Levi, shall come forward, for the Lord your God has chosen them to minister to him and to bless in the name of the Lord, and by their word every dispute and every assault shall be settled.
  • Deuteronomy 21:6 - And all the elders of that city nearest to the slain man shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley,
  • Deuteronomy 21:7 - and they shall testify, ‘Our hands did not shed this blood, nor did our eyes see it shed.
  • Deuteronomy 21:8 - Accept atonement, O Lord, for your people Israel, whom you have redeemed, and do not set the guilt of innocent blood in the midst of your people Israel, so that their blood guilt be atoned for.’
  • Deuteronomy 21:9 - So you shall purge the guilt of innocent blood from your midst, when you do what is right in the sight of the Lord.
  • 2 Kings 10:11 - So Jehu struck down all who remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, all his great men and his close friends and his priests, until he left him none remaining.
  • Nehemiah 6:5 - In the same way Sanballat for the fifth time sent his servant to me with an open letter in his hand.

  • Esther 3:13 - Letters were sent by couriers to all the king’s provinces with instruction to destroy, to kill, and to annihilate all Jews, young and old, women and children, in one day, the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar, and to plunder their goods.
  • Esther 3:14 - A copy of the document was to be issued as a decree in every province by proclamation to all the peoples to be ready for that day.
  • Esther 3:15 - The couriers went out hurriedly by order of the king, and the decree was issued in Susa the citadel. And the king and Haman sat down to drink, but the city of Susa was thrown into confusion.
