Ecclesiastes 5:18 - I have seen what is good. It is good for a person to eat and drink. It’s good for them to be satisfied with their hard work on this earth. That’s what they should do during the short life God has given them. That’s what God made them for.
Ecclesiastes 5:19 - Sometimes God gives a person wealth and possessions. God makes it possible for that person to enjoy them. God helps them accept the life he has given them. God helps them to be happy in their work. All these things are gifts from God.
Ecclesiastes 5:20 - A person like that doesn’t have to think about how their life is going. That’s because God fills their heart with joy.
Matthew 25:14 - “Again, here is what the kingdom of heaven will be like. A man was going on a journey. He sent for his slaves and put them in charge of his money.
Matthew 25:15 - He gave five bags of gold to one. He gave two bags to another. And he gave one bag to the third. The man gave each slave the amount of money he knew the slave could take care of. Then he went on his journey.
Matthew 25:16 - The slave who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work. He earned five bags more.
Matthew 25:17 - The one with the two bags of gold earned two more.
Matthew 25:18 - But the man who had received one bag went and dug a hole in the ground. He hid his master’s money in it.
Matthew 25:19 - “After a long time the master of those slaves returned. He wanted to collect all the money they had earned.
Matthew 25:20 - The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you trusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have earned five more.’
Matthew 25:21 - “His master replied, ‘You have done well, good and faithful slave! You have been faithful with a few things. I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
Matthew 25:22 - “The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you trusted me with two bags of gold. See, I have earned two more.’
Matthew 25:23 - “His master replied, ‘You have done well, good and faithful slave! You have been faithful with a few things. I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
Matthew 25:24 - “Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man. You harvest where you have not planted. You gather crops where you have not scattered seed.
Matthew 25:25 - So I was afraid. I went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’
Matthew 25:26 - “His master replied, ‘You evil, lazy slave! So you knew that I harvest where I have not planted? You knew that I gather crops where I have not scattered seed?
Matthew 25:27 - Well then, you should have put my money in the bank. When I returned, I would have received it back with interest.’
Matthew 25:28 - “Then his master commanded the other slaves, ‘Take the bag of gold from him. Give it to the one who has ten bags.
Matthew 25:29 - Everyone who has will be given more. They will have more than enough. And what about anyone who doesn’t have? Even what they have will be taken away from them.
1 Timothy 6:17 - Command people who are rich in this world not to be proud. Tell them not to put their hope in riches. Wealth is so uncertain. Command those who are rich to put their hope in God. He richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
1 Timothy 6:18 - Command the rich to do what is good. Tell them to be rich in doing good things. They must give freely. They must be willing to share.
Luke 16:1 - Jesus told his disciples another story. He said, “There was a rich man who had a manager. Some said that the manager was wasting what the rich man owned.
Luke 16:2 - So the rich man told him to come in. He asked him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Tell me exactly how you have handled what I own. You can’t be my manager any longer.’
Luke 19:17 - “ ‘You have done well, my good slave!’ his master replied. ‘You have been faithful in a very small matter. So I will put you in charge of ten towns.’
Luke 19:18 - “The second slave came to his master. He said, ‘Sir, your money has earned five times as much.’
Luke 19:19 - “His master answered, ‘I will put you in charge of five towns.’
Luke 19:20 - “Then another slave came. He said, ‘Sir, here is your money. I have kept it hidden in a piece of cloth.
Luke 19:21 - I was afraid of you. You are a hard man. You take out what you did not put in. You harvest what you did not plant.’
Luke 19:22 - “His master replied, ‘I will judge you by your own words, you evil slave! So you knew that I am a hard man? You knew that I take out what I did not put in? You knew that I harvest what I did not plant?
Luke 19:23 - Then why didn’t you put my money in the bank? When I came back, I could have collected it with interest.’
Luke 19:24 - “Then he said to those standing by, ‘Take his money away from him. Give it to the one who has ten times as much.’
Luke 19:25 - “ ‘Sir,’ they said, ‘he already has ten times as much!’
Luke 19:26 - “He replied, ‘I tell you that everyone who has will be given more. But here is what will happen to anyone who has nothing. Even what they have will be taken away from them.
Luke 21:34 - “Be careful. If you aren’t, your hearts will be loaded down with wasteful living, drunkenness and the worries of life. Then the day the Son of Man returns will close on you like a trap. It will happen suddenly.
Psalm 39:6 - People are only shadows as they go here and there. They rush around, but it doesn’t mean anything. They pile up wealth, but they don’t know who will finally get it.
1 Peter 1:24 - It is written, “All people are like grass. All their glory is like the flowers in the field. The grass dries up. The flowers fall to the ground.
James 4:14 - You don’t even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? It is a mist that appears for a little while. Then it disappears.
Ecclesiastes 9:7 - Go and enjoy your food. Be joyful as you drink your wine. God has already approved what you do.
Ecclesiastes 9:8 - Always wear white clothes to show you are happy. Anoint your head with olive oil.
Ecclesiastes 9:9 - You love your wife. So enjoy life with her. Do it all the days of this meaningless life God has given you on earth. That’s what he made you for. That’s what you get for all your hard work on earth.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 - No matter what you do, work at it with all your might. Remember, you are going to the place of the dead. And there isn’t any work or planning or knowledge or wisdom there.
1 Peter 4:7 - The end of all things is near. So be watchful and control yourselves. Then you may pray.
1 John 2:17 - The world and its evil desires are passing away. But whoever does what God wants them to do lives forever.
