  • 1 Chronicles 17:3 - But it happened that same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying,
  • 1 Chronicles 17:4 - “Go and tell David My servant, ‘This is what the Lord says: “You shall not build a house for Me to dwell in;
  • 1 Chronicles 17:5 - for I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up Israel to this day, but I have gone from tent to tent and from one dwelling place to another.
  • 1 Chronicles 17:6 - In all places where I have walked with all Israel, have I spoken a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd My people, saying, ‘Why have you not built Me a house of cedar?’ ” ’
  • 1 Chronicles 17:7 - Now, therefore, this is what you shall say to My servant David: ‘This is what the Lord of armies says: “I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, to be leader over My people Israel.
  • 1 Chronicles 17:8 - I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have eliminated all your enemies from you; and I will make for you a name like the name of the great ones who are on the earth.
  • 1 Chronicles 17:9 - And I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will plant them there, so that they may live in their own place and not tremble with anxiety again; and the wicked will not make them waste away anymore as they did previously,
  • 1 Chronicles 17:10 - even from the day that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel. And I will subdue all your enemies. Moreover, I tell you that the Lord will build a house for you.
  • 1 Chronicles 17:11 - When your days are fulfilled that you must go to be with your fathers, then I will set up one of your descendants after you, who will be from your sons; and I will establish his kingdom.
  • 1 Chronicles 17:12 - He shall build for Me a house, and I will establish his throne forever.
  • 1 Chronicles 17:13 - I will be his father and he shall be My son; and I will not take My favor away from him, as I took it from him who was before you.
  • 1 Chronicles 17:14 - But I will settle him in My house and in My kingdom forever, and his throne will be established forever.” ’ ”
  • 1 Chronicles 17:15 - According to all these words and according to all of this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.
  • 1 Kings 9:3 - And the Lord said to him, “I have heard your prayer and your plea which you have offered before Me; I have consecrated this house which you have built, by putting My name there forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there always.
  • Ezra 6:12 - May the God who has caused His name to dwell there overthrow any king or people who attempts to change it, so as to destroy that house of God in Jerusalem. I, Darius, have issued this decree; it is to be carried out with all diligence!”
  • 1 Chronicles 28:2 - Then King David rose to his feet and said, “Listen to me, my brothers and my people; I had intended to build a permanent home for the ark of the covenant of the Lord and for the footstool of our God. So I had made preparations to build it.
  • 1 Chronicles 28:3 - But God said to me, ‘You shall not build a house for My name, because you are a man of war and have shed blood.’
  • 1 Chronicles 28:4 - Yet, the Lord, the God of Israel, chose me from all the household of my father to be king over Israel forever. For He has chosen Judah to be a leader; and in the house of Judah, my father’s house, and among the sons of my father He took pleasure in me to make me king over all Israel.
  • 1 Chronicles 28:5 - Of all my sons (for the Lord has given me many sons), He has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.
  • 1 Chronicles 28:6 - He said to me, ‘Your son Solomon is the one who shall build My house and My courtyards; for I have chosen him to be a son to Me, and I will be a Father to him.
  • 1 Chronicles 28:7 - I will establish his kingdom forever if he resolutely performs My commandments and My ordinances, as is done now.’
  • 1 Chronicles 28:8 - So now, in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of the Lord, and in the presence of our God, keep and seek after all the commandments of the Lord your God so that you may possess the good land and leave it as an inheritance to your sons after you forever.
  • 1 Chronicles 28:9 - “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him wholeheartedly and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.
  • 1 Chronicles 28:10 - Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary; be courageous and act.”
  • 1 Chronicles 28:11 - Then David gave to his son Solomon the plan of the porch of the temple, its buildings, its storehouses, its upper rooms, its inner rooms, and the room for the atoning cover;
  • 1 Chronicles 28:12 - and the plan of all that he had in mind, for the courtyards of the house of the Lord, and for all the surrounding rooms, for the storehouses of the house of God and for the storehouses of the dedicated things;
  • 1 Chronicles 28:13 - also for the divisions of the priests and the Levites and for all the work of the service of the house of the Lord and for all the utensils of service in the house of the Lord;
  • 1 Chronicles 28:14 - for the golden utensils, by weight of gold for all utensils for every service; for all the silver utensils, by weight of silver for all utensils for every service;
  • 1 Chronicles 28:15 - and the weight of gold for the golden lampstands and their golden lamps, with the weight of each lampstand and its lamps; and the weight of silver for the silver lampstands, with the weight of each lampstand and its lamps according to the use of each lampstand;
  • 1 Chronicles 28:16 - and the gold by weight for the tables of the showbread, for each table; and silver for the silver tables;
  • 1 Chronicles 28:17 - and the forks, the basins, and the pitchers of pure gold; and for the golden bowls with the weight for each bowl; and for the silver bowls with the weight for each bowl;
  • 1 Chronicles 28:18 - and for the altar of incense, refined gold by weight; and gold for the model of the chariot, and the cherubim that spread out their wings and covered the ark of the covenant of the Lord.
  • 1 Chronicles 28:19 - “All this,” said David, “the Lord made me understand in writing by His hand upon me, all the details of this pattern.”
  • 1 Chronicles 28:20 - Then David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and courageous, and act; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.
  • 1 Chronicles 28:21 - Now behold, there are the divisions of the priests and the Levites for all the service of the house of God, and every willing man of any skill will be with you in all the work for all kinds of service. The officials also and all the people will be entirely at your command.”
  • 1 Kings 8:29 - so that Your eyes may be open toward this house night and day, toward the place of which You have said, ‘My name shall be there,’ to listen to the prayer which Your servant will pray toward this place.
  • 2 Chronicles 2:4 - Behold, I am about to build a house for the name of the Lord my God, dedicating it to Him, to burn fragrant incense before Him and to set out the showbread continually, and to offer burnt offerings morning and evening, on Sabbaths, on new moons, and on the appointed feasts of the Lord our God. This is to be done in Israel forever.
  • 2 Samuel 7:2 - that the king said to Nathan the prophet, “See now, I live in a house of cedar, but the ark of God remains within the tent.”
  • 2 Samuel 7:3 - Nathan said to the king, “Go, do all that is in your mind, for the Lord is with you.”
  • Deuteronomy 12:11 - then it shall come about that the place in which the Lord your God will choose for His name to dwell, there you shall bring everything that I command you: your burnt offerings and your sacrifices, your tithes and the contribution of your hand, and all your choice vowed offerings which you will vow to the Lord.
  • 2 Chronicles 6:7 - Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.
  • 2 Chronicles 6:8 - But the Lord said to my father David, ‘Because it was in your heart to build a house for My name, you did well that it was in your heart.
  • 2 Chronicles 6:9 - Nevertheless you shall not build the house, but your son who will be born to you, he shall build the house for My name.’
  • 1 Kings 8:16 - ‘Since the day that I brought My people Israel from Egypt, I did not choose a city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house so that My name would be there, but I chose David to be over My people Israel.’
  • 1 Kings 8:17 - Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.
  • 1 Kings 8:18 - But the Lord said to my father David, ‘Because it was in your heart to build a house for My name, you did well that it was in your heart.
  • 1 Kings 8:19 - Nevertheless you shall not build the house, but your son who will be born to you, he will build the house for My name.’
  • 1 Kings 8:20 - Now the Lord has fulfilled His word which He spoke; for I have risen in place of my father David and I sit on the throne of Israel, just as the Lord promised, and I have built the house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.
  • Deuteronomy 12:5 - But you shall seek the Lord at the place which the Lord your God will choose from all your tribes, to establish His name there for His dwelling, and you shall come there.
  • Psalms 132:5 - Until I find a place for the Lord, A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
