You will plant vineyards and dress them, but you will neither drink of the wine, nor harvest, because worms will eat them.

I will give it into the hands of the strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a plunder; and they will profane it.

For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion,‘ How we are ruined! We are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because they have cast down our dwellings.’”

In that day, I will punish all those who leap over the threshold, who fill their master’s house with violence and deceit.

A lion has gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations. He is on his way. He has gone out from his place, to make your land desolate, that your cities be laid waste, without inhabitant.

Therefore I have poured out my indignation on them. I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath. I have brought their own way on their heads,” says the Lord Yahweh.

They will eat up your harvest and your bread, which your sons and your daughters should eat. They will eat up your flocks and your herds. They will eat up your vines and your fig trees. They will beat down your fortified cities in which you trust with the sword.

Therefore Zion for your sake will be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem will become heaps of rubble, and the mountain of the temple like the high places of a forest.

Behold, Yahweh makes the earth empty, makes it waste, turns it upside down, and scatters its inhabitants.It will be as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the creditor, so with the debtor; as with the taker of interest, so with the giver of interest.The earth will be utterly emptied and utterly laid waste; for Yahweh has spoken this word.

Woe to those who join house to house, who lay field to field, until there is no room, and you are made to dwell alone in the middle of the land!In my ears, Yahweh of Armies says:“ Surely many houses will be desolate, even great and beautiful, unoccupied.

They will build houses and inhabit them. They will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.They will not build and another inhabit. They will not plant and another eat: for the days of my people will be like the days of a tree, and my chosen will long enjoy the work of their hands.

They will cast their silver in the streets, and their gold will be as an unclean thing. Their silver and their gold won’t be able to deliver them in the day of Yahweh’s wrath. They won’t satisfy their souls or fill their bellies; because it has been the stumbling block of their iniquity.

They will eat the fruit of your livestock and the fruit of your ground, until you are destroyed. They also won’t leave you grain, new wine, oil, the increase of your livestock, or the young of your flock, until they have caused you to perish.

“ I will make Jerusalem heaps, a dwelling place of jackals. I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.”

Then I said,“ Lord, how long?” He answered,“ Until cities are waste without inhabitant, houses without man, the land becomes utterly waste,

Many shepherds have destroyed my vineyard. They have trodden my portion under foot. They have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.They have made it a desolation. It mourns to me, being desolate. The whole land is made desolate, because no one cares.Destroyers have come on all the bare heights in the wilderness; for the sword of Yahweh devours from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land. No flesh has peace.They have sown wheat, and have reaped thorns. They have exhausted themselves, and profit nothing. You will be ashamed of your fruits, because of Yahweh’s fierce anger.”

Destruction on destruction is decreed, for the whole land is laid waste. Suddenly my tents are destroyed, and my curtains gone in a moment.
