The wind blows where it wants to, and you hear its sound, but don’t know where it comes from and where it is going. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Have you entered the treasuries of the snow, or have you seen the treasures of the hail,which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?By what way is the lightning distributed, or the east wind scattered on the earth?Who has cut a channel for the flood water, or the path for the thunder storm,to cause it to rain on a land where there is no man, on the wilderness, in which there is no man,to satisfy the waste and desolate ground, to cause the tender grass to grow?Does the rain have a father? Or who fathers the drops of dew?

Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? Or can the sky give showers? Aren’t you he, Yahweh our God? Therefore we will wait for you; for you have made all these things.

No plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up; for Yahweh God had not caused it to rain on the earth. There was not a man to till the ground,but a mist went up from the earth, and watered the whole surface of the ground.

For he commands, and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up its waves.
