For it is impossible to renew to repentance those who were once enlightened, who tasted the heavenly gift, became companions with the Holy Spirit,tasted God’s good word and the powers of the coming age,and who have fallen away, because, to their own harm, they are recrucifying the Son of God and holding Him up to contempt.For ground that has drunk the rain that has often fallen on it and that produces vegetation useful to those it is cultivated for receives a blessing from God.But if it produces thorns and thistles, it is worthless and about to be cursed, and will be burned at the end.

For if we deliberately sin after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire about to consume the adversaries.If anyone disregards Moses’ law, he dies without mercy, based on the testimony of two or three witnesses.How much worse punishment do you think one will deserve who has trampled on the Son of God, regarded as profane the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and insulted the Spirit of grace?For we know the One who has said, Vengeance belongs to Me, I will repay, and again, The Lord will judge His people.It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God!

But these people blaspheme anything they don’t understand. What they know by instinct like unreasoning animals— they destroy themselves with these things.Woe to them! For they have traveled in the way of Cain, have abandoned themselves to the error of Balaam for profit, and have perished in Korah’s rebellion.These are the ones who are like dangerous reefs at your love feasts. They feast with you, nurturing only themselves without fear. They are waterless clouds carried along by winds; trees in late autumn— fruitless, twice dead, pulled out by the roots;wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shameful deeds; wandering stars for whom the blackness of darkness is reserved forever!

The gloom of darkness has been reserved for them.For by uttering boastful, empty words, they seduce, with fleshly desires and debauchery, people who have barely escaped from those who live in error.They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption, since people are enslaved to whatever defeats them.For if, having escaped the world’s impurity through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in these things and defeated, the last state is worse for them than the first.For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy command delivered to them.It has happened to them according to the true proverb: A dog returns to its own vomit, and,“ a sow, after washing itself, wallows in the mud.”

As He approached and saw the city, He wept over it,saying,“ If you knew this day what would bring peace— but now it is hidden from your eyes.For the days will come on you when your enemies will build an embankment against you, surround you, and hem you in on every side.They will crush you and your children within you to the ground, and they will not leave one stone on another in you, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”

If anyone sees his brother committing a sin that does not bring death, he should ask, and God will give life to him— to those who commit sin that doesn’t bring death. There is sin that brings death. I am not saying he should pray about that.All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin that does not bring death.

who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets and persecuted us; they displease God and are hostile to everyone,hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. As a result, they are always completing the number of their sins, and wrath has overtaken them at last.

Blind guides! You strain out a gnat, yet gulp down a camel!

For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.

“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to make one proselyte, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as fit for hell as you are!

This came from the Lord and is wonderful in our eyes?Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation producing its fruit.Whoever falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; but on whoever it falls, it will grind him to powder!”

But we are not those who draw back and are destroyed, but those who have faith and obtain life.

When the Pharisees heard this, they said,“ The man drives out demons only by Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons.”

If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin. Now they have no excuse for their sin.The one who hates Me also hates My Father.If I had not done the works among them that no one else has done, they would not have sin. Now they have seen and hated both Me and My Father.

Because of this, the wisdom of God said,‘ I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,’so that this generation may be held responsible for the blood of all the prophets shed since the foundation of the world—from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary.“ Yes, I tell you, this generation will be held responsible.

Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers’ sins!“ Snakes! Brood of vipers! How can you escape being condemned to hell?This is why I am sending you prophets, sages, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues and hound from town to town.So all the righteous blood shed on the earth will be charged to you, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar.I assure you: All these things will come on this generation!“ Jerusalem, Jerusalem! She who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her. How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, yet you were not willing!See, your house is left to you desolate.For I tell you, you will never see Me again until you say,‘ He who comes in the name of the Lord is the blessed One’!”

as it is written: God gave them a spirit of insensitivity, eyes that cannot see and ears that cannot hear, to this day.And David says: Let their feasting become a snare and a trap, a pitfall and a retribution to them.Let their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and their backs be bent continually.
