為此，正如罪是從一人進入世界，死又從罪而來，於是死就臨到所有的人，因為人人都犯了罪。

你叫他們如水沖去，他們如睡一覺。早晨，他們如生長的草；早晨發芽生長，晚上割下枯乾。我們因你的怒氣而消滅，因你的憤怒而驚惶。你將我們的罪孽擺在你面前，將我們的隱惡擺在你面光之中。

「人子，看哪，我要以災病奪取你眼中所喜愛的，你卻不可悲哀哭泣，也不可流淚，

我們對我主說：『我們有父親，他已經年老，還有他老年所生的一個小兒子。他哥哥死了，他的母親只剩下他一個孩子，父親也疼愛他。』你對僕人說：『把他帶下到我這裏來，讓我親眼看看他。』我們對我主說：『這年輕人不能離開他父親，若是離開，父親就會死。』

至於世人，他的年日如草一樣。他興旺如野地的花，經風一吹，就歸無有，它的原處也不再認識它。

耶穌就和他同去。有一大羣人跟隨他，擁擠着他。

人一生虛度的日子，如影兒經過，誰知道甚麼才是對他有益呢？誰能告訴他身後在日光之下會發生甚麼事呢？

早晚之間，他們就被毀滅，永歸無有，無人理會。

「你，人子啊，那日當我除掉他們所倚靠的保障、所歡喜的榮耀，並眼中所喜愛的，心裏所重看的兒女時，

「我要將那施恩與懇求的靈，澆灌大衛家和耶路撒冷的居民。他們必仰望我，就是他們所扎的那位。他們必為他悲傷，如喪獨子，又為他哀哭，如喪長子。
