They gave them Kiriath Arba( that is, Hebron), with its surrounding pastureland, in the hill country of Judah.( Arba was the forefather of Anak.)

在那些日子，馬利亞起身，急忙前往山區，來到猶大的一座城，

以色列眾支派來到希伯崙見大衛，說：「看哪，我們是你的骨肉。從前掃羅作我們王的時候，率領以色列人出入的是你。耶和華也曾對你說：『你必牧養我的百姓以色列，你必作以色列的君王。』」於是以色列的眾長老都來到希伯崙見王。大衛在希伯崙，在耶和華面前與他們立約，他們就膏大衛作以色列的王。大衛登基的時候年三十歲，作王四十年。他在希伯崙作猶大王七年六個月，在耶路撒冷作以色列和猶大王三十三年。

過了四年，押沙龍對王說：「求你准我往希伯崙去，還我向耶和華所許的願。

此後，大衛求問耶和華說：「我可以上猶大的一個城去嗎？」耶和華對他說：「可以上去。」大衛說：「我上哪一個城去呢？」耶和華說：「希伯崙。」於是大衛和他的兩個妻子，一個是耶斯列人亞希暖，一個是作過迦密人拿八妻子的亞比該，都上那裏去了。大衛也把跟隨他的人和他們各人的眷屬一同帶上去，住在希伯崙的城鎮中。

於是，以色列人劃分拿弗他利山區加利利的基低斯、以法蓮山區的示劍和猶大山區的基列‧亞巴，基列‧亞巴就是希伯崙。他們在約旦河的另一邊，就是耶利哥的東邊，從呂便支派中，在曠野的平原設立比悉，從迦得支派中設立基列的拉末，從瑪拿西支派中設立巴珊的哥蘭。這都是為以色列眾人和在他們中間寄居的外人所指定的城鎮，使凡誤殺人者可以逃到那裏，不至於死在報血仇者的手中，直到他站在會眾面前受審判。

宏他、基列‧亞巴，基列‧亞巴就是希伯崙，洗珥，共九座城，還有所屬的村莊。

雅各來到他父親以撒那裏，到了幔利，基列‧亞巴，就是希伯崙，是亞伯拉罕和以撒寄居的地方。

希伯崙從前名叫基列‧亞巴；亞巴是亞衲族最尊貴的人。於是國中太平，沒有戰爭了。
