蓋貧乏孤獨、籲呼望救、我無不援手。

因我拯援哀呼之貧民、救護無助之孤子、

because I rescued the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to assist them.

That’s because I saved poor people who cried out for help. I saved helpless children whose fathers had died.

because I delivered the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to help him.

For I assisted the poor in their need and the orphans who required help.

For I rescued the poor who cried out for help, and the fatherless child who had no one to support him.

Because I saved the poor who cried for help, And the orphan who had no helper.

Because I delivered the poor who cried out, The fatherless and the one who had no helper.

Because I delivered the poor that cried, The fatherless also, that had none to help him.

For he will deliver the needy when he cries; the poor, who has no helper.

Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he will also cry out, but shall not be heard.

A father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.

He executes justice for the fatherless and widow and loves the foreigner in giving him food and clothing.

“ You shall not take advantage of any widow or fatherless child.If you take advantage of them at all, and they cry at all to me, I will surely hear their cry;and my wrath will grow hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

if I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, because I saw my help in the gate,

Isn’t your wickedness great? Neither is there any end to your iniquities.For you have taken pledges from your brother for nothing, and stripped the naked of their clothing.You haven’t given water to the weary to drink, and you have withheld bread from the hungry.But as for the mighty man, he had the earth. The honorable man, he lived in it.You have sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

They turn the needy out of the way. The poor of the earth all hide themselves.

or have eaten my morsel alone, and the fatherless has not eaten of it

For there were some who said,“ We, our sons and our daughters, are many. Let us get grain, that we may eat and live.”There were also some who said,“ We are mortgaging our fields, our vineyards, and our houses. Let us get grain, because of the famine.”There were also some who said,“ We have borrowed money for the king’s tribute using our fields and our vineyards as collateral.Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brothers, our children as their children. Behold, we bring our sons and our daughters into bondage to be servants, and some of our daughters have been brought into bondage. It is also not in our power to help it, because other men have our fields and our vineyards.”I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.Then I consulted with myself, and contended with the nobles and the rulers, and said to them,“ You exact usury, everyone of his brother.” I held a great assembly against them.I said to them,“ We, after our ability, have redeemed our brothers the Jews that were sold to the nations; and would you even sell your brothers, and should they be sold to us?” Then they held their peace, and found not a word to say.Also I said,“ The thing that you do is not good. Shouldn’t you walk in the fear of our God, because of the reproach of the nations our enemies?I likewise, my brothers and my servants, lend them money and grain. Please let us stop this usury.Please restore to them, even today, their fields, their vineyards, their olive groves, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, that you are charging them.”Then they said,“ We will restore them, and will require nothing of them. We will do so, even as you say.” Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they would do according to this promise.Also I shook out my lap, and said,“ So may God shake out every man from his house, and from his labor, that doesn’t perform this promise; even may he be shaken out and emptied like this.” All the assembly said,“ Amen,” and praised Yahweh. The people did according to this promise.

He judged the cause of the poor and needy; so it was well, then. Wasn’t this to know me?” says Yahweh.

“ How long will you judge unjustly, and show partiality to the wicked?” Selah.“ Defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless. Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.Rescue the weak and needy. Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.”

Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

Rescue those who are being led away to death! Indeed, hold back those who are staggering to the slaughter!If you say,“ Behold, we didn’t know this,” doesn’t he who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, doesn’t he know it? Shall he not render to every man according to his work?
