“ Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has devoured us, he has thrown us into confusion, he has made us an empty jar. Like a serpent he has swallowed us and filled his stomach with our delicacies, and then has spewed us out.

The people of Jerusalem say,“ Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, has destroyed us. He has thrown us into a panic. He has emptied us out like a jar. Like a snake he has swallowed us up. He has filled his stomach with our rich food. Then he has spit us out of his mouth.”

“ Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me; he has crushed me; he has made me an empty vessel; he has swallowed me like a monster; he has filled his stomach with my delicacies; he has rinsed me out.

“ King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon has eaten and crushed us and drained us of strength. He has swallowed us like a great monster and filled his belly with our riches. He has thrown us out of our own country.

“ King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon has devoured me; he has crushed me. He has set me aside like an empty dish; he has swallowed me like a sea monster; he filled his belly with my delicacies; he has vomited me out.

“ King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon devoured me and drove my people out. Like a monster from the deep he swallowed me. He filled his belly with my riches. He made me an empty dish. He completely cleaned me out.”

“以色列是打散的羊，是被狮子赶出的。首先是亚述王将他吞灭，末后是巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒将他的骨头折断。”

我必刑罚巴比伦的彼勒，使他吐出所吞的。万民必不再流归他那里；巴比伦的城墙也必坍塌了。

他吞了财宝，还要吐出；神要从他腹中掏出来。

看哪，耶和华使地空虚，变为荒凉；又翻转大地，将居民分散。那时百姓怎样，祭司也怎样；仆人怎样，主人也怎样；婢女怎样，主母也怎样；买物的怎样，卖物的也怎样；放债的怎样，借债的也怎样；取利的怎样，出利的也怎样。地必全然空虚，尽都荒凉；因为这话是耶和华说的。

你的仇敌都向你大大张口；他们嗤笑，又切齿说：“我们吞灭她。这真是我们所盼望的日子临到了！我们亲眼看见了！”

“你们这假冒为善的文士和法利赛人有祸了！因为你们正当人前，把天国的门关了，自己不进去，正要进去的人，你们也不容他们进去。

所以要发预言说，主耶和华如此说：因为敌人使你荒凉，四围吞吃，好叫你归与其余的外邦人为业，并且多嘴多舌的人提起你来，百姓也说你有臭名。

你们这些要吞吃穷乏人、使困苦人衰败的，当听我的话！

耶和华复兴雅各的荣华，好像以色列的荣华一样；因为使地空虚的，已经使雅各和以色列空虚，将他们的葡萄枝毁坏了。

我罪过的轭是他手所绑的，犹如轭绳缚在我颈项上；他使我的力量衰败。主将我交在我所不能敌挡的人手中。主轻弃我中间的一切勇士，招聚多人攻击我，要压碎我的少年人。主将犹大居民踹下，像在酒榨中一样。

你们抢掠金银吧！因为所积蓄的无穷，华美的宝器无数。尼尼微现在空虚荒凉，人心消化，双膝相碰，腰都疼痛，脸都变色。

巴比伦怎样使以色列被杀的人仆倒，照样，他全地被杀的人也必在巴比伦仆倒。”

我们好像阴间，把他们活活吞下；他们如同下坑的人，被我们囫囵吞了；

先前满有人民的城，现在何竟独坐！先前在列国中为大的，现在竟如寡妇；先前在诸省中为王后的，现在成为进贡的。

“摩押自幼年以来常享安逸，如酒在渣滓上澄清，没有从这器皿倒在那器皿里，也未曾被掳去。因此，它的原味尚存，香气未变。耶和华说：“日子将到，我必打发倒酒的往他那里去，将他倒出来，倒空他的器皿，打碎他的坛子。

凡遇见他们的，就把他们吞灭。敌人说：‘我们没有罪；因他们得罪那作公义居所的耶和华，就是他们列祖所仰望的耶和华。’

鹈鹕、箭猪却要得为业；猫头鹰、乌鸦要住在其间。耶和华必将空虚的准绳，混沌的线铊，拉在其上。

犹大王西底家第九年十月，巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒率领全军来围困耶路撒冷。西底家十一年四月初九日，城被攻破。耶路撒冷被攻取的时候，巴比伦王的首领尼甲沙利薛、三甲尼波、撒西金、拉撒力、尼甲沙利薛、拉墨，并巴比伦王其余的一切首领都来坐在中门。犹大王西底家和一切兵丁看见他们，就在夜间从靠近王园两城中间的门出城逃跑，往亚拉巴逃去。迦勒底的军队追赶他们，在耶利哥的平原追上西底家，将他拿住，带到哈马地的利比拉、巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒那里；尼布甲尼撒就审判他。巴比伦王在利比拉、西底家眼前杀了他的众子，又杀了犹大的一切贵胄，并且剜西底家的眼睛，用铜链锁着他，要带到巴比伦去。迦勒底人用火焚烧王宫和百姓的房屋，又拆毁耶路撒冷的城墙。
