因著他們的工作，要在愛中格外地看重他們。你們要彼此和睦。

他們彼此說：「我們在弟弟的事上實在有罪。他懇求我們的時候，我們見他心中苦楚，卻不肯聽，所以現在這苦楚臨到我們了。」魯本就回應他們，說：「我不是對你們說過：『不要對那孩子犯罪』嗎？可是你們不肯聽；看哪，他的血債現在來追討了！」

因此，你們身為蒙神揀選、聖潔和蒙愛的人，就應當穿上憐憫的心腸，以及仁慈、謙卑、溫柔、耐心。如果一個人對另一個人懷有不滿，總要彼此容忍，互相饒恕。正如主饒恕了你們，你們也當如此。

看哪，弟兄們合一居住，是多麼美善，多麼美好——這就像澆在亞倫頭上貴重的膏油，流到他的鬍鬚，又流到他的衣襟；又像黑門的甘露降在錫安的眾山上——因為在那裡，耶和華命定了祝福，就是永遠的生命。

「我給你們一條新的命令：就是要你們彼此相愛，就如我愛你們，為要使你們也彼此相愛。如果你們彼此之間有了愛，眾人從這一點就會知道你們是我的門徒了。」

你們要除掉一切苦毒、暴怒、憤怒、喧嚷、毀謗，以及一切的惡毒；要以仁慈彼此相待，心存憐憫，互相饒恕，就像神在基督裡饒恕了你們那樣。

你們就要同心合意——愛心一致、靈裡一致、意念一致，好使我的喜樂得以滿足。做任何事都不要出於爭競，也不可出於虛榮，而要以謙卑的心，各人看別人比自己強；每個人不要只注重自己的事，也要注重別人的事。你們應當有這樣的意念，這也是基督耶穌的意念。

又對他們說：「不可殺人流血！可以把他丟進這曠野的坑裡，只是不可向他下手。」魯本這樣說，是要救約瑟脫離他們的手，把他帶回父親那裡。
