He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said,“ These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”

He took what they gave him and made it into a metal statue of a god. It looked like a calf. Aaron shaped it with a tool. Then the people said,“ Israel, here is your god who brought you up out of Egypt.”

And he received the gold from their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool and made a golden calf. And they said,“ These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!”

Then Aaron took the gold, melted it down, and molded it into the shape of a calf. When the people saw it, they exclaimed,“ O Israel, these are the gods who brought you out of the land of Egypt!”

He took the gold from them, fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made it into an image of a calf. Then they said,“ Israel, these are your gods, who brought you up from the land of Egypt!”

And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the LORD your God,[ and] had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you.

They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These[ be] thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

They that make a graven image[ are] all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they[ are] their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image[ that] is profitable for nothing?

Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves[ of] gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

And now ye think to withstand the kingdom of the LORD in the hand of the sons of David; and ye[ be] a great multitude, and[ there are] with you golden calves, which Jeroboam made you for gods.

They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;

And he ordained him priests for the high places, and for the devils, and for the calves which he had made.

To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.

They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance,[ and] hire a goldsmith; and he maketh it a god: they fall down, yea, they worship.

The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Bethaven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof[ that] rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.

Howbeit[ from] the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, Jehu departed not from after them,[ to wit], the golden calves that[ were] in Bethel, and that[ were] in Dan.

And when he had restored the eleven hundred[ shekels] of silver to his mother, his mother said, I had wholly dedicated the silver unto the LORD from my hand for my son, to make a graven image and a molten image: now therefore I will restore it unto thee.Yet he restored the money unto his mother; and his mother took two hundred[ shekels] of silver, and gave them to the founder, who made thereof a graven image and a molten image: and they were in the house of Micah.

Because that, when they knew God, they glorified[ him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.

And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for[ as for] this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.

And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver,[ and] idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.

They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew[ it] not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.Thy calf, O Samaria, hath cast[ thee] off; mine anger is kindled against them: how long[ will it be] ere they attain to innocency?

With the work of an engraver in stone,[ like] the engravings of a signet, shalt thou engrave the two stones with the names of the children of Israel: thou shalt make them to be set in ouches of gold.

I[ am] the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that[ is] in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Bethel, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made.

And thou shalt take two onyx stones, and grave on them the names of the children of Israel:
