And you shall answer and say before the Lord your God:‘ My father was a Syrian, about to perish, and he went down to Egypt and dwelt there, few in number; and there he became a nation, great, mighty, and populous.

你要在耶和华你神面前说：‘我祖原是一个将亡的亚兰人，下到埃及寄居。他人口稀少，在那里却成了又大又强、人数很多的国民。

你要在耶和华—你上帝面前告白说：‘我的祖先原是一个流亡的亚兰人，带着稀少的人丁下到埃及寄居。在那里，他却成了又大又强、人数众多的国。

你要在耶和华—你神面前告白说：‘我的祖先原是一个流亡的亚兰人，带着稀少的人丁下到埃及寄居。在那里，他却成了又大又强、人数众多的国。

你们要在你们的上帝耶和华面前宣告，‘我们的祖先原是到处流浪的亚兰人。他到埃及寄居时，家中人丁稀少，后来成为人口众多的强大民族。

然后你要在耶和华你的神面前说：‘我的祖先原是个飘泊流亡的亚兰人；他下到埃及，在那里寄居；他人数稀少，在那里却成了又大又强、人数又多的国。

爾在爾上帝耶和華前必曰、我祖亞蘭人、乃瀕死者、往旅埃及、人數無多、而成大族、強盛繁衍、

爾在上帝耶和華前必告曰、吾祖亞蘭人、遊牧無定、攜人無多、以往埃及於彼昌大、繁衍其族。

爾在主爾之天主前、當敬告曰、我祖亞蘭人飄流無定、飄流無定或作窘迫將亡攜人無多以往伊及、乃旅於彼、在彼成為大族、強盛蕃衍、

Then you shall declare before the Lord your God:“ My father was a wandering Aramean, and he went down into Egypt with a few people and lived there and became a great nation, powerful and numerous.

Then you will speak while the Lord is listening. You will say,“ My father Jacob was a wanderer from the land of Aram. He went down into Egypt with a few people. He lived there and became the father of a great nation. It had huge numbers of people.

“ And you shall make response before the Lord your God,‘ A wandering Aramean was my father. And he went down into Egypt and sojourned there, few in number, and there he became a nation, great, mighty, and populous.

“ You must then say in the presence of the Lord your God,‘ My ancestor Jacob was a wandering Aramean who went to live as a foreigner in Egypt. His family arrived few in number, but in Egypt they became a large and mighty nation.

You are to respond by saying in the presence of the LORD your God: My father was a wandering Aramean. He went down to Egypt with a few people and resided there as an alien. There he became a great, powerful, and populous nation.

And you shall respond and say before the Lord your God,‘ My father was a wandering Aramean, and he went down to Egypt and resided there, few in number; but there he became a great, mighty, and populous nation.

And thou shalt answer and say before Jehovah thy God, A Syrian ready to perish was my father; and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there, few in number; and he became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous.

You are to respond by saying in the presence of the Lord your God: My father was a wandering Aramean. He went down to Egypt with a few people and lived there. There he became a great, powerful, and populous nation.

And thou shalt speak and say before the LORD thy God, A Syrian ready to perish[ was] my father, and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there with a few, and became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous:

Then you must affirm before the LORD YOUR GOD,“ A wandering Aramean was my ancestor, and he went down to Egypt and lived there as a foreigner with a household few in number, but there he became a great, powerful, and numerous people.

You shall answer and say before Yahweh your God,“ My father was a Syrian ready to perish. He went down into Egypt, and lived there, few in number. There he became a great, mighty, and populous nation.

Now the famine was severe in the land.And it came to pass, when they had eaten up the grain which they had brought from Egypt, that their father said to them,“ Go back, buy us a little food.”

And the sons of Joseph who were born to him in Egypt were two persons. All the persons of the house of Jacob who went to Egypt were seventy.

Your fathers went down to Egypt with seventy persons, and now the Lord your God has made you as the stars of heaven in multitude.

There I will provide for you, lest you and your household, and all that you have, come to poverty; for there are still five years of famine.”’

And God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.

Take double money in your hand, and take back in your hand the money that was returned in the mouth of your sacks; perhaps it was an oversight.

Jacob fled to the country of Syria; Israel served for a spouse, And for a wife he tended sheep.

So Jacob went down to Egypt; and he died, he and our fathers.

The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples;

“ Listen to Me, you who follow after righteousness, You who seek the Lord: Look to the rock from which you were hewn, And to the hole of the pit from which you were dug.Look to Abraham your father, And to Sarah who bore you; For I called him alone, And blessed him and increased him.”

All those who were descendants of Jacob were seventy persons( for Joseph was in Egypt already).

But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them.

Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah as wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian.

So Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.Then God spoke to Israel in the visions of the night, and said,“ Jacob, Jacob!” And he said,“ Here I am.”So He said,“ I am God, the God of your father; do not fear to go down to Egypt, for I will make of you a great nation there.I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also surely bring you up again; and Joseph will put his hand on your eyes.”Then Jacob arose from Beersheba; and the sons of Israel carried their father Jacob, their little ones, and their wives, in the carts which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.So they took their livestock and their goods, which they had acquired in the land of Canaan, and went to Egypt, Jacob and all his descendants with him.His sons and his sons’ sons, his daughters and his sons’ daughters, and all his descendants he brought with him to Egypt.

But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were in dread of the children of Israel.

But God had come to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said to him,“ Be careful that you speak to Jacob neither good nor bad.”

There I was! In the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night, and my sleep departed from my eyes.

Israel also came into Egypt, And Jacob dwelt in the land of Ham.He increased His people greatly, And made them stronger than their enemies.

And Jacob stole away, unknown to Laban the Syrian, in that he did not tell him that he intended to flee.

but you shall go to my country and to my family, and take a wife for my son Isaac.”

So Isaac sent Jacob away, and he went to Padan Aram, to Laban the son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau.

So Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Esau said in his heart,“ The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then I will kill my brother Jacob.”

So Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions there and grew and multiplied exceedingly.
