After a little while, those standing there came up to Peter and said,“ You really are one of them too– even your accent gives you away!”

But Simon Peter was left standing outside by the door. So the other disciple who was acquainted with the high priest came out and spoke to the slave girl who watched the door, and brought Peter inside.The girl who was the doorkeeper said to Peter,“ You’re not one of this man’s disciples too, are you?” He replied,“ I am not.”

Now the ones who had arrested Jesus led him to Caiaphas, the high priest, in whose house the experts in the law and the elders had gathered.But Peter was following him from a distance, all the way to the high priest’s courtyard. After going in, he sat with the guards to see the outcome.

As he was walking by the Sea of Galilee he saw two brothers, Simon( called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea( for they were fishermen).He said to them,“ Follow me, and I will turn you into fishers of people.”They left their nets immediately and followed him.Going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in a boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. Then he called them.They immediately left the boat and their father and followed him.

When he went out to the gateway, another slave girl saw him and said to the people there,“ This man was with Jesus the Nazarene.”

So when Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing there, he said to his mother,“ Woman, look, here is your son!”

But this rabble who do not know the law are accursed!”

Jesus sent Peter and John, saying,“ Go and prepare the Passover for us to eat.”

Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard, and the elders who had come out to get him,“ Have you come out with swords and clubs like you would against an outlaw?Day after day when I was with you in the temple courts, you did not arrest me. But this is your hour, and that of the power of darkness!”Then they arrested Jesus, led him away, and brought him into the high priest’s house. But Peter was following at a distance.

Then a slave girl, seeing him as he sat in the firelight, stared at him and said,“ This man was with him too!”But Peter denied it:“ Woman, I don’t know him!”Then a little later someone else saw him and said,“ You are one of them too.” But Peter said,“ Man, I am not!”And after about an hour still another insisted,“ Certainly this man was with him, because he too is a Galilean.”But Peter said,“ Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” At that moment, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.
