You are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham,‘ All the families of the earth will be blessed through your offspring.’

汝為先知弟子、承上帝所賜祖宗之約、謂亞伯拉罕曰、天下兆民、將藉爾裔而受福、

爾為先知之子孫、承天主與列祖所立之約、謂亞伯拉罕曰、天下萬民、將因爾子孫而獲福、

爾曹乃先知之後；天主與我祖立約、亦為爾曹。

And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham,‘ Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.’

What the prophets said was meant for you. The covenant God made with your people long ago is yours also. He said to Abraham,‘ All nations on earth will be blessed through your children.’( Genesis 22:18; 26:4)

You are the children of those prophets, and you are included in the covenant God promised to your ancestors. For God said to Abraham,‘ Through your descendants all the families on earth will be blessed.’

For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all who are far off, even as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.”

I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who treats you with contempt. All the families of the earth will be blessed through you.”

After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude, which no man could count, out of every nation and of all tribes, peoples, and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands.

The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the Good News beforehand to Abraham, saying,“ In you all the nations will be blessed.”

who are Israelites; whose is the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service, and the promises;of whom are the fathers, and from whom is Christ as concerning the flesh, who is over all, God, blessed forever. Amen.

Brothers, children of the stock of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, the word of this salvation is sent out to you.

found his heart faithful before you, and made a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Jebusite, and the Girgashite, to give it to his offspring, and have performed your words; for you are righteous.

Your offspring will be as the dust of the earth, and you will spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south. In you and in your offspring, all the families of the earth will be blessed.

For the promise to Abraham and to his offspring that he should be heir of the world wasn’t through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

Now therefore, restore the man’s wife. For he is a prophet, and he will pray for you, and you will live. If you don’t restore her, know for sure that you will die, you, and all who are yours.”

He confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,

God said,“ No, but Sarah, your wife, will bear you a son. You shall call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his offspring after him.

I will multiply your offspring as the stars of the sky, and will give all these lands to your offspring. In your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed,

He has remembered his covenant forever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations,the covenant which he made with Abraham, his oath to Isaac,and confirmed it to Jacob for a statute; to Israel for an everlasting covenant,saying,“ To you I will give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance,”when they were but a few men in number, yes, very few, and foreigners in it.They went about from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people.He allowed no one to do them wrong. Yes, he reproved kings for their sakes,“ Don’t touch my anointed ones! Do my prophets no harm!”

All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to Yahweh. All the relatives of the nations shall worship before you.

Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his offspring. He doesn’t say,“ To descendants”, as of many, but as of one,“ To your offspring”, which is Christ.

Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it on Ephraim’s head, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh’s head, guiding his hands knowingly, for Manasseh was the firstborn.He blessed Joseph, and said,“ The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has fed me all my life long to this day,the angel who has redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads, and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac. Let them grow into a multitude upon the earth.”When Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand on the head of Ephraim, it displeased him. He held up his father’s hand, to remove it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head.Joseph said to his father,“ Not so, my father, for this is the firstborn. Put your right hand on his head.”His father refused, and said,“ I know, my son, I know. He also will become a people, and he also will be great. However, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his offspring will become a multitude of nations.”He blessed them that day, saying,“ Israel will bless in you, saying,‘ God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh’” He set Ephraim before Manasseh.

since Abraham will surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed in him?

If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring and heirs according to promise.

to show mercy toward our fathers, to remember his holy covenant,

Don’t think to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham for our father,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.“ Even now the ax lies at the root of the trees. Therefore every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.

Ascribe to Yahweh, you families of nations, ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength.

He said,“ Isn’t he rightly named Jacob? For he has supplanted me these two times. He took away my birthright. See, now he has taken away my blessing.” He said,“ Haven’t you reserved a blessing for me?”Isaac answered Esau,“ Behold, I have made him your lord, and all his brothers I have given to him for servants. I have sustained him with grain and new wine. What then will I do for you, my son?”Esau said to his father,“ Do you have just one blessing, my father? Bless me, even me also, my father.” Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.Isaac his father answered him,“ Behold, your dwelling will be of the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of the sky from above.You will live by your sword, and you will serve your brother. It will happen, when you will break loose, that you will shake his yoke from off your neck.”

Now I say that Christ has been made a servant of the circumcision for the truth of God, that he might confirm the promises given to the fathers,

I saw an angel flying in mid heaven, having an eternal Good News to proclaim to those who dwell on the earth, and to every nation, tribe, language, and people.

They sang a new song, saying,“ You are worthy to take the book and to open its seals: for you were killed, and bought us for God with your blood out of every tribe, language, people, and nation,

Jacob called to his sons, and said:“ Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which will happen to you in the days to come.Assemble yourselves, and hear, you sons of Jacob. Listen to Israel, your father.“ Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength; excelling in dignity, and excelling in power.Boiling over like water, you shall not excel; because you went up to your father’s bed, then defiled it. He went up to my couch.“ Simeon and Levi are brothers. Their swords are weapons of violence.My soul, don’t come into their council. My glory, don’t be united to their assembly; for in their anger they killed men. In their self- will they hamstrung cattle.Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel. I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.“ Judah, your brothers will praise you. Your hand will be on the neck of your enemies. Your father’s sons will bow down before you.Judah is a lion’s cub. From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He stooped down, he crouched as a lion, as a lioness. Who will rouse him up?The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs. To him will the obedience of the peoples be.Binding his foal to the vine, his donkey’s colt to the choice vine; he has washed his garments in wine, his robes in the blood of grapes.His eyes will be red with wine, his teeth white with milk.“ Zebulun will dwell at the haven of the sea. He will be for a haven of ships. His border will be on Sidon.“ Issachar is a strong donkey, lying down between the saddlebags.He saw a resting place, that it was good, the land, that it was pleasant. He bows his shoulder to the burden, and becomes a servant doing forced labor.“ Dan will judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.Dan will be a serpent on the trail, an adder in the path, That bites the horse’s heels, so that his rider falls backward.I have waited for your salvation, Yahweh.“ A troop will press on Gad, but he will press on their heel.“ Asher’s food will be rich. He will produce royal dainties.“ Naphtali is a doe set free, who bears beautiful fawns.“ Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine by a spring. His branches run over the wall.The archers have severely grieved him, shot at him, and persecuted him:But his bow remained strong. The arms of his hands were made strong, by the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob,( from there is the shepherd, the stone of Israel),even by the God of your father, who will help you, by the Almighty, who will bless you, with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lies below, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb.The blessings of your father have prevailed above the blessings of your ancestors, above the boundaries of the ancient hills. They will be on the head of Joseph, on the crown of the head of him who is separated from his brothers.“ Benjamin is a ravenous wolf. In the morning he will devour the prey. At evening he will divide the plunder.”All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father spoke to them, and blessed them. He blessed everyone according to his own blessing.He instructed them, and said to them,“ I am to be gathered to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite as a burial place.There they buried Abraham and Sarah, his wife. There they buried Isaac and Rebekah, his wife, and there I buried Leah:the field and the cave that is therein, which was purchased from the children of Heth.”When Jacob finished charging his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, breathed his last breath, and was gathered to his people.

God said to Abraham,“ As for you, you will keep my covenant, you and your offspring after you throughout their generations.This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your offspring after you. Every male among you shall be circumcised.
