When King Jeroboam heard what the man of God cried out against the altar at Bethel, he stretched out his hand from the altar and said,“ Seize him!” But the hand he stretched out toward the man shriveled up, so that he could not pull it back.

The man of God announced that message against the altar at Bethel. When King Jeroboam heard it, he reached out his hand from the altar. He said,“ Grab him!” But as he reached out his hand toward the man, it dried up. He couldn’t even pull it back.

And when the king heard the saying of the man of God, which he cried against the altar at Bethel, Jeroboam stretched out his hand from the altar, saying,“ Seize him.” And his hand, which he stretched out against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it back to himself.

When King Jeroboam heard the man of God speaking against the altar at Bethel, he pointed at him and shouted,“ Seize that man!” But instantly the king’s hand became paralyzed in that position, and he couldn’t pull it back.

Now when the king heard the statement of the man of God which he cried out against the altar in Bethel, Jeroboam stretched out his hand from the altar, saying,“ Seize him!” But his hand which he had stretched out toward him dried up, and he could not draw it back to himself.

So it came to pass when King Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, who cried out against the altar in Bethel, that he stretched out his hand from the altar, saying,“ Arrest him!” Then his hand, which he stretched out toward him, withered, so that he could not pull it back to himself.

So the LORD’s anger was against Amaziah, and he sent a prophet to him, who said,“ Why have you sought a people’s gods that could not rescue their own people from you?”While he was still speaking to him, the king asked,“ Have we made you the king’s counselor? Stop, why should you lose your life?” So the prophet stopped, but he said,“ I know that God intends to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my advice.”

When he finished the address the LORD had commanded him to deliver to all the people, immediately the priests, the prophets, and all the people took hold of him, yelling,“ You must surely die!How dare you prophesy in the name of the LORD,‘ This temple will become like Shiloh and this city will become an uninhabited ruin’!” Then all the people crowded around Jeremiah at the LORD’s temple.When the officials of Judah heard about these things, they went from the king’s palace to the LORD’s temple and sat at the entrance of the New Gate of the LORD’s temple.Then the priests and prophets said to the officials and all the people,“ This man deserves the death sentence because he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your own ears.”

Asa was enraged with the seer and put him in prison because of his anger over this. And Asa mistreated some of the people at that time.

When Jesus told them,“ I am he,” they stepped back and fell to the ground.

They will fall by the sword of their enemies before your very eyes. I will hand Judah over to the king of Babylon, and he will deport them to Babylon and put them to the sword.I will give away all the wealth of this city, all its products and valuables. Indeed, I will hand all the treasures of the kings of Judah over to their enemies. They will plunder them, seize them, and carry them off to Babylon.As for you, Pashhur, and all who live in your house, you will go into captivity. You will go to Babylon. There you will die, and there you will be buried, you and all your friends to whom you prophesied lies.’”

If anyone wants to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and consumes their enemies; if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this way.

“ Do not touch my anointed ones, or harm my prophets.”

But Elymas the sorcerer( that is the meaning of his name) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul away from the faith.But Saul— also called Paul— filled with the Holy Spirit, stared straight at Elymasand said,“ You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery, you son of the devil and enemy of all that is right. Won’t you ever stop perverting the straight paths of the Lord?Now, look, the Lord’s hand is against you. You are going to be blind, and will not see the sun for a time.” Immediately a mist and darkness fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand.

Then the king of Israel ordered,“ Take Micaiah and return him to Amon, the governor of the city, and to Joash, the king’s son,and say,‘ This is what the king says: Put this guy in prison and feed him only a little bread and water until I come back safely.’”But Micaiah said,“ If you ever return safely, the LORD has not spoken through me.” Then he said,“ Listen, all you people!”

Falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him,“ Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”“ Who are you, Lord?” Saul said.“ I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting,” he replied.

Those who had arrested Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders had convened.

Truly I tell you, whoever receives anyone I send receives me, and the one who receives me receives him who sent me.”

But when John rebuked Herod the tetrarch because of Herodias, his brother’s wife, and all the evil things he had done,Herod added this to everything else— he locked up John in prison.

“ And the King will answer them,‘ Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

They stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes; so they came, seized him, and took him to the Sanhedrin.They also presented false witnesses who said,“ This man never stops speaking against this holy place and the law.For we heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs that Moses handed down to us.”

Another man was also prophesying in the name of the LORD— Uriah son of Shemaiah from Kiriath-jearim. He prophesied against this city and against this land in words like all those of Jeremiah.King Jehoiakim, all his warriors, and all the officials heard his words, and the king tried to put him to death. When Uriah heard, he fled in fear and went to Egypt.But King Jehoiakim sent men to Egypt: Elnathan son of Achbor and certain other men with him went to Egypt.They brought Uriah out of Egypt and took him to King Jehoiakim, who executed him with the sword and threw his corpse into the burial place of the common people.

The officials then said to the king,“ This man ought to die, because he is weakening the morale of the warriors who remain in this city and of all the people by speaking to them in this way. This man is not pursuing the welfare of this people, but their harm.”King Zedekiah said,“ Here he is; he’s in your hands since the king can’t do anything against you.”So they took Jeremiah and dropped him into the cistern of Malchiah the king’s son, which was in the guard’s courtyard, lowering Jeremiah with ropes. There was no water in the cistern, only mud, and Jeremiah sank in the mud.

Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent word to King Jeroboam of Israel, saying,“ Amos has conspired against you right here in the house of Israel. The land cannot endure all his words,for Amos has said this:‘ Jeroboam will die by the sword, and Israel will certainly go into exile from its homeland.’”Then Amaziah said to Amos,“ Go away, you seer! Flee to the land of Judah. Earn your living and give your prophecies there,but don’t ever prophesy at Bethel again, for it is the king’s sanctuary and a royal temple.”So Amos answered Amaziah,“ I was not a prophet or the son of a prophet; rather, I was a herdsman, and I took care of sycamore figs.But the LORD took me from following the flock and said to me,‘ Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’”Now hear the word of the LORD. You say: Do not prophesy against Israel; do not preach against the house of Isaac.Therefore, this is what the LORD says: Your wife will be a prostitute in the city, your sons and daughters will fall by the sword, and your land will be divided up with a measuring line. You yourself will die on pagan soil, and Israel will certainly go into exile from its homeland.

After looking around at them all, he told him,“ Stretch out your hand.” He did, and his hand was restored.

They struck the men who were at the entrance of the house, both young and old, with blindness so that they were unable to find the entrance.

When the Arameans came against him, Elisha prayed to the LORD,“ Please strike this nation with blindness.” So he struck them with blindness, according to Elisha’s word.Then Elisha said to them,“ This is not the way, and this is not the city. Follow me, and I will take you to the man you’re looking for.” And he led them to Samaria.When they entered Samaria, Elisha said,“ LORD, open these men’s eyes and let them see.” So the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw that they were in the middle of Samaria.
